I guess thats why they're called extremists and people only use them as a reference when you are running a scare tactics campaign.

First-off, It's not the American constitution, secondly, It's a declaration from a religious group and thirdly, way to copy the headline ad verbatim, Smitty.

It's no different than the proclamations and declarations any churches make to the general public to define themselves.

Excellent use of our new Fark term.

Unsuccessful troll is still unsuccessful, but at least got some random left-wing blog, I guess?

Or possibly the writers of the blog are actually some of the people on the liberty council? Because that's the only way I can imagine anyone caring enough about what they have to say to be outraged.

Jesus wanted to run his faith like an exclusive club, it's right there in the bible. You libs act like he wanted to make salvation available to everyone.

So by "traditional" family values they are going back to what it was for thousands of years until the 19th century? You know, where you could have multiple wives. Where you could marry at biblical and biological adulthood (13). Where women stayed at home barefoot and pregnant.

2012-01-13 01:19:54 PM
The Declaration also seeks "to secure the free exercise of religion for all people, including the freedom to acknowledge God through our public institutions and other modes of public expression and the freedom of religious conscience," and want pornography outlawed, stating "obscenity, pornography, and indecency debase our communities, harm our families, and undermine morality and respect."

Pornography IS my religion, and I demand the right to exercise it freely.

2012-01-13 01:20:10 PM
Holy crap this combination of traditional social conservative stances that date back decades and stuff that even a liberal would be proud to have written is a sign of the coming Christian Theocracy! EVERYBODY PANIC!

aside from that icky Mormon multiple wives thing, I'd say yes, they'd welcome those changes

By the way, can some Christian please explain to me how a "strong military" fits in with the ideals of Christianity that Jesus espoused?

2012-01-13 01:22:04 PM
"We hereby pledge our Names, our Lives and our Sacred Honor to this Declaration of American Values."

So we're done pulling punches then? Ok, good. You're exactly the opposite of what Christ would have been in favor of.

That whole "Love one another" thing wasn't just God's campaign slogan. He meant it. He died, not just for you, but for every homosexual, every minority, every poor person who had to steal bread.

He died for every person and every idea you would vote against today. He died for Muslims, and Jews, and Buddists, EVERY ONE, Not just you and yours.

A "Conservative" on NPR was quoted as saying, "There is no perfect candidate," says Bryan Fischer, director of issue analysis at the American Family Association. "Jesus Christ is not on the ballot in any of the primary elections, so that means social conservatives have to do triage."

The funny thing is, if Jesus were on the ballot he would tell you to give your extra money to those who have none "The man with two tunics should share with him who has none, and the one who has food should do the same." Luke 3:11

If Jesus were on the ballot he would defund the military "But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also." Matt 5:39

If Jesus were on the ballot you would vote against him.

So take your "Christian" values and shove them up your ass. You cannot take only the parts of Jesus you like and ignore the rest.

In short, you're the people Jesus wouldn't hang out with.

You're basically saying "Can anyone cherry pick some verses for me?". Something will vaguely apply, stripped of all context.

You can claim nearly anything has biblical support that way.

I'm loving how Christian Fascists have now turned their focus from the Bible to the Constitution. It just underlines how farking stupid they are about the whole thing. I bet if we put a lot of effort into this, we could get them to symbolize a frozen mound of cowshiat and they would be completely honest about it. I can see it now:

"Mom, Dad, I'm gay."

"YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO BE THE GAY! IT SAYS SO IN THE COWshiat!! HAS THE COWshiat EVER BEEN WRONG?? THE COWshiat KNOWS THE WAY! YOU BETTER READ YOUR COWshiat, AND GET WITH IT, BECAUSE IT'S A SIN IN THE EYES OF JESUS CORN-IST!"

You know, I was born in this country, and my father's side of the family goes back to the Mayflower. I'm as American as one can possibly be.

I got a chuckle out of how they spelled out in their pre-amble the good old "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" and then proceeded to lay out ways to prevent those three things from people who don't believe exactly as they do.

I'm pretty sure you could get a psychiatrist to read that manifesto and declare the person who wrote it mentally incompetent.

busy chillin': [www.stonewallvets.org image 500x667]

My wife and I were at a babyshower for one of my wife's friends recently (why I had to be there is another matter). One of my wife's friend's friends was also there and talking about how she was hesitant to take her kids to brother's house, since he was gay and she didn't want them to...I don't know, catch the gay?

Anyway, my wife said, completely innocently why she would take her kids to see her parents then, since they're the ones who made a gay child.

You could hear a pin drop. It was awesome.

Except, you know, candidates for President are pledging fealty to similar declarations in order to secure the nomination.
