You libs may have forgotten, but I'll never forgive these frogs for abandoning us in the fight to liberate the world from the grim specter of Saddam HUSSEIN and his imminent plans to destroy us all with his mobile bioweapons laboratories.

You've got to admit that it's impressive how an ally for 225 years was turned into a bunch of ingrateful traitors by a short PR blitz in 2003. It makes you realize how easy it was for Stalin to erase Trotsky.

What these two guys did was great, but as a side-note - they probably had another stop to make. Going to Kansas to return these tags also let them visit nearby Kansas City, MO where the ONLY World War 1 museum exists. The museum is outstanding and worth the trip for anyone interested in that terrible war.

Yes, France is our oldest ally, but you have to admit that they have almost been more trouble than they have been worth. Their early failures in the world wars haven't helped, but they also got us into Vietnam...

"surrender monkey" talk is sort of cheap from Americans and Brits. Two nations that don't share a border with Germany. The French had prepared for the last war and were boned from word go.

No, WE got us into Vietnam. We armed the Viet Minh against the Japanese, let them get screwed over by France afterwards, let the French get screwed over by the Viet Minh, and then lied, murdered, and cheated the Vietnamese to keep the government under our influence.

Yep. A few years back when the Republicans were bashing them for not wanting to get entrenched in the Iraq debacle, I often wondered how many of those congressmen actually knew the history of Americas independence.

We gave anyone in Asia who wanted to shoot at the Japanese a rifle. France tried to get all colonial again after WW2 and eventually got their asses kicked at Dien Bien Phu. The French begged for help and since we were their ally, and had gotten quite good at bailing them out, we got involved. At the time Ho Chi Minh actually asked US for help, but the Red Scare and the desire to 'support the French' even after the French were gone got us into the cycle of backing sadistic strongmen.

They weren't necessarily pussies in the first WW. It's that they had an entire generation or two of men killed. The survivors wern't neccessarly 'alpha type', that's what bred the French into pussies. Also, that the women had to take on the roles of men and left all the boys confused.

It would be kind of weird to keep the property of some person's dead grandfather, I would think. Maybe once there's another generation of separation would I possibly think about selling to collectors. But when there are people alive related to the dead soldiers that might have possibly known them, it's just bad form to sell their stuff.

Hanging out in the Carribean to pursue their own interests instead of directly contributing to the war, despite American pleading? John Adams, I think, had the quote that they wanted to keep our heads just over water.

Ok, let's really kick the thread up for us History Nerds:
Q: Who - in your opinion - started WW1?
My Answer:
I blame Austro-Hungary Empire. The July Ultimatum was essentially a declaration of war. "Hey Serbs! Here's a big farking list of demands, you have 3 days to respond, oh, and the pony express took 2 days to get the letter there. Too bad for you!"

Which was precisely what they needed. What they needed was a foil for England, not a new rival next to their colonies.
/The US didn't "save" anyone in World War I. There wasn't an evil side or a good side, WWI was a war fought for Imperial reasons with modern weapons. We helped one side win with favorable conditions instead of it ending in a draw.

The French are really serious about their military history.
Also, I know of a guy who had a contracting job on one of the Pacific Islands and he found a dogtag in the sand. He looked the guy up, contacted him and gave him back his ID tag he lost 60-65 years ago.
This stuff is really cool.

I know you're being sarcastic.
But anyway it made me think of Frenchtoast being renamed to freedom toast, and one senator demanding that US WW1 casualties buried in France should be exhumed and returned to US soil.
What a dick, he should go to France and see how those, numerous (millions died) gravesites are kept, not a straw of grass bend the wrong way.

But anyway, I hope all those Freedomtoast assholes feel stupid and embarrassed now (LoL, yeah right!).
