I guess Chicago is more of a "submerging" market.

So, Aon's HQ is in Flux?

There was a place in London where I used to get 11" veggie pizzas for 4.50 pounds. Beat that price, America.

/that was 2007-2008

Guuberre: So, Aon's HQ is in Flux?

Do you mean the good one, the bad one, or the live action bad one? If the good one, will Aon end up dead in the end?

So you got a small pizza for 7 dollars? Little Ceaser's will give you two LARGE pizzas for $10.

But Little Caeser's is a chain, right? This was good, restaurant-made tasty stuff with lots of toppings. Since getting back to the US, I haven't found a place that sells that kind of pizza for that kind of price.

Are taxes really lower in London than Chicago?

FTFA: The firm will eventually move to a nearby skyscraper known as the Cheesegrater, due to be completed in 2014, he said.

The Cheesegrater? Of course.

UK has territorial tax system where overseas profits are not taxed at UK rates. US taxes all Corp income at 35%, when repatriated (less credit for foreign taxes paid).

So yeah, they could get a tax benefit

I walk my greyhounds past a Little Caesars' every day. They might stop and sniff a piece that was left on the ground, but they have never, ever eaten any.

Thanks for that. Checking the Tribune's website comment section and I see all the right-wing derpers are blaming Pat Quinn for this and think this is another step in Chicago turning into Detroit West...even though Illinois taxes had nothing to do with this decision which was a point that Aon explicitly made.

I manage to piss everyone off when I say that the US corporate tax rate is insanely high and personal tax rates are insanely low. A small VAT would also do a lot of good.

Let's not forget the people before AON who had the building - Zenith.
Boy was Zenith screwed up at the end - especially since they held some of the better HDTV patents and essentially gave them away.

Hopefully Sears will move over the London here shortly too. Illinois has a high tax rate.

Look, he was bragging about price. He didn't say anything about quality until his second post.

Genju: Well by that logic I can just go to feces CiCi's pizza and get all you can eat pizza for $4.99!

As bad as Little Ceaser's pizza is, Cici's brings it down to a whole other level. Still, if I was poor and/or hated my children, Cici's is the kind of place I'd take them.

FTFA: The move won't trigger any job losses in Chicago, which will remain the firm's Americas headquarters, the broker said today in a statement. The firm plans to add 1,000 jobs across the U.S. this year, it added.

I know the building more as the one with the façade covered in the last of MIchelangelo's marble, which was subsequently removed because it couldn't handle the Chicago weather...

It's nice that they renamed the city's #1 landmark after him. RIP Wesley Willis, RIP Serious Tower.

Aon Center:
featuresblogs.chicagotribune.com

It used to be called the Standard Oil building. It's taller than the John Hancock!

My mom used to tell us that when she was a kid, the tallest building in Chicago was the Prudential building. We couldn't believe it; that building is dwarfed by the surrounding buildings now.
