Say something besides link new window mate- Yes, Corvids are very smart and can make and use tools.
Of course, the one in the first vid prolly just found a big bag of cannabis and then a nice innertube, so she/he decided to go tubing down that roof.
And thus, the first generation of roof innertubing Crows and Raven was wrought. In 5 generations, they will be doing half pipes

Have you heard? What's that? You mean you haven't heard? I was under the impression that everyone had heard.

That's a Jackdaw. A member of the corvidae family, commonly called the crow family, but no more a crow than a blue jay is a crow.

Not to spoil the fun; the entire family is filled with remarkably intelligent creatures. I'm curious as to that bird's motives, but that's a question that could probably never be answered.

/I might have spoiled the fun anyway

Al!: Jackdaw.

Not with that beak. That almost has a raven beak.
And it looks like it weighs about half a kilo.
Hybrid maybe ?

On further inspection, I think it might be a Hooded Crow (new window). I was basing my assertion on the coloration, which is very similar to a Jackdaw (new window), though now that I've looked into it, it almost certainly is a crow, based on the beak and the size. Towards the end of the video there is a great shot of the chest area, and that looks like a Hooded Crow, though I was unfamiliar with the species before about 6 minutes ago. Either way, it would be a very large Jackdaw, and though I've seen them that large, it would be quite rare.

I may be overly ready to anthropomorphize that bird but it looked like he was doing it for fun. It was like watching a kid, IMO. All the way down to the bird pecking at the tube at the base of the roof to try to get a little more momentum or something. I'm probably wrong and I watch too many cartoons, though.

Certainly this crow is doing what he's doing for fun. Where can I get a crow suit?

Al!: That's a Jackdaw.

It's a hooded crow, common to Eastern and Northern Europe.

Subby is retarded

there's only one video about Crow on the Intertubes:

Obviously nature is favorably selecting birds who demonstrate sledding ability as having more survivability. It's science.

I've just realised that you'd already corrected your "jackdaw". Somehow I'd missed your post and had corrected you when no correction was necessary. So I apologise for my derp.

suck it corvid haters.

Hate to rain the parade, but it could also easily been some sort of little food container or something that the crow was trying to get open, what with him pecking at it and stuff.

Besides, how fun would snowboarding be when you can farking FLY?
