So any guesses on when Discovery is going to come out with their new show "Deadliest Job: Iranian Nuclear Scientist"?

2012-01-12 07:39:55 PM
Self-fulfilling assplodery. In trying to stop it, they started it.

2012-01-12 07:40:20 PM
Maybe they could airlift in a planeload or two of psychiatrists, get the Iranian nuclear scientists to sit down on the couch and discuss how their mothers screwed them all up.

FTFA: "I understand there has been a problem with suicides among the scientists," one Tel Aviv-based military think-tanker said on the day of the killing, with a broad grin.

Not suspicious at all...

Is there really much of a difference between Israel doing something and the U.S. doing something?

Iranian nuclear scientists are now ahead of Guy Whose Wife Just Took Out Insurance Policy On Him In Dateline ID Episode in terms of life expectancy.

Degenerate Monkey: Is there really much of a difference between Israel doing something and the U.S. doing something?

Oh, short answer 'yes' with an 'if'... long answer 'no'... with a 'but'.

Degenerate Monkey: Is there really much of a difference between Israel doing something and the U.S. doing something?

The difference is that the U.S. would have send a drone into Iran and blown up the car, while Israel would have done this.

What could be worse - the Saudi ambassador exploding in a restaurant on American soil, with about 50 American civilians?

Cut it out, Israel, you morons. World Wars aren't your culture's strong suit and I have plans for the next few decades.

I'm not saying they're assholes, but... they're assholes.

If the US does it, it stars Keifer Sutherland, if Israel does it, it's directed by Steven Spielberg.

Has anybody considered the possibility that Iran is bumping off scientists who fail to give them the bomb, then blaming it on Israel? It allows them to distract from their own illegal weapons proliferation, while also providing an excuse on why they're failing for internal consumption. Note that nobody is actually cited for the proposition that Israel did anything-- just some member of a "think tank" and a "politician" who may or may not know anything. We really should reserve judgment until we have all the facts. Perhaps Iran would be willing to allow a full investigation of their nuclear program, which would include looking into what is happening to their scientists? If they're unwilling to do so, that should probably be taken as highly suggestive of their guilt.

2012-01-12 07:46:17 PM
Since it's probably not the US, then it has to be some other Mideast country that doesn't like Iran.

You know, like Israel.

Or Iraq.

Or Saudi Arabia.

Or, well, pretty much anyone else. Including some of the more-intelligent people in Iran.

"If the Ayatollahs get a nuke, someone's going to be dumb enough to use it. If that happens, we're going to be a big glassy hole in the ground. Maybe we should... slow the process. A lot."

And if Iranian youths get inspired and the Russians help them out, they might be the only society on the planet capable of building a nuclear flying carpet, and Bollywood will pick up the rights.

FTFA:
Meanwhile, Richard Silverstein, an American blogger who covers the Middle East, cited a "confidential Israeli source" as confirming that the hit was the work of the Mossad, Israel's spy service, together with a militant Iranian opposition group.

Sounds pretty open and shut to me...

We now join a conversation between Israel and the US from earlier this year...

Israel: If you don't do something about Iran, we're going to bomb them and initiate WWIII.

US: Don't do that. Seriously, we can go another route.

Israel: What you got suckers?

US: Nerds. Lots and lots of nerds. How about a virus infecting their machinery?

Israel: Not bad what else you got?

US: Let's see how this does first...

Israel: Come on, where's your balls?? We need to take it to another level and show Iran we're serious.... Starting with state-sponsored assassinations.

US:Whoa bucko, I like assassinating foreign nationals for the sake of national security like like any other major power, but you gotta be careful with that sort of thing.

Israel: Short of bombing them then, what else you got?

US: Let's let the President come out for a return to the '67 borders. It'll mean nothing except good PR for the US in countries where we're not so popular right now. You protest it half-heartedly, nothing will actually change and we'll have the PR we need to go ahead and assassinate these asshats that pretty much everyone in the region agrees is bad for business. Cool?

Israel: Works for us. I wonder who they'll get to play us in the movie?

I now have no problem with Iran nuking Israel. When you target civilians of another country and execute them, you have engaged in an act of war., especially if you cross borders to do it.

It's high time we stop supporting Israel, if Israel want to get started in a war then go for it, but don't come back to the USA for help.

But if even a hint of that leaked out Iran would have to deal with the remaining scientists wanting to flee the country for fear of their lives. I don't think alienating and terrifying the very brains required to build the technology is the best way to go about it, just ask the Nazis.

Iran has been threatening the destruction of Israel for years and still you have people siding with Iran. Should Israel wait until they're attacked before doing anything? No, no they shouldn't. Rock on, Israel.

Never happen. We rely on Israel way too much for our plausibly deniable foreign wetwork. Not saying they're going after these scientists on our orders, though.

CSB: when I lived in Atlanta, one of my neighbors was a nice Israeli family. Young couple, doubt they were even in their 30s yet, with a young daughter. The guy was open about his military service in the IDF before moving to the states, and was down to chat about sports, music...anything, but otherwise gave off an aura of "...but don't bother asking me what I do now" (so I never did). He seemed to be home most of the time, and if he was gone, it was usually for at least a few days at a time, and then he'd be back for awhile again.

No idea if they're still there, but anyways; here's to you, probably-member-of-the-Mossad-guy, wherever you are now.

"...it's suddenly improper, even outrageous, to suggest that this is Terrorism. That's because the U.S. and Israel are incapable of committing Terrorism, by definition. Terrorism is only something done to those countries and by Muslims, not the other way around."

But its not terrorism when Israel or the US does it, right?

You know, eventually the younger generation is going to come to power, and most of them are sick of this Israel can do no wrong nonsense...and theyre also a lot less likely to be right wing evangelicals who support Israel because it's necessary to bring about the rapture. And when that happens Israel is going to be alone in a sea of people who, quite rightly now, hate its guts. And that'll pretty much be the end of that, won't it? I'm eagerly awaiting that day, quite frankly.
