That would be awesome. But, as the author concludes, they would be massive targets.

Don't think that the governments of the world won't still try to take possession of this.

As long as a connection can be established, you can always lay the mischief over top of it.

Wouldn't it be simplier for hackers to crush the Internet for a few days and afterwards see if the government still wanted to drop the SOPA?

I'm not saying it would be easy or simple, but compared to creating and protecting a new satellite-based web?

I think I'll become Amish if this whole SOPA thing goes through. Any farkettes out there tired of shaving their legs/pits/pubes are free to come with me. Something tells me, without the Internet I'm gonna need all the pussy I can get on standby.

Sure. Are you tracking all the space junk up there? Launch your own internet, and you'll discover one piece of space junk for each satellite launched.

In a previous thread regarding this, someone had brought up using the provisions of the law against its backers and the politicians who vote for it. As it stands now is that feasible? What would need to be done to make the legislators regret crafting it?

Hope Google and co. go through with shutting down everything until SOPA is repealed?

Posting "You Can't Stop The Signal" from a movie/TV series that didn't do well enough to get renewed (a signal stopped stone dead) is deeply metaphysical.

snake_beater: Hope Google and co. go through with shutting down everything until SOPA is repealed?

Oh I figure there's enough copy righted stuff flying around Facebook to get it blocked... That alone would be enough to have every single solitary legislator calling an emergency "Repeal this before they murder us" session.

I think if SOPA becomes a major pain, the internet will eventually fall into TOR space. Essentially an internet where the users become the routing pathways and the gov cant do shiat. Currently TOR is pretty slow because there are very few end points, entrances to the real net. The reason for lack of end points is because there are few users overall for TOR, and that means anytime one of the few people with an endpoint pops up on radar for things like child porn traffic, it is relatively easy to subdue what ever that IP is. Once we get to the breaking point on the real net, eventually people will turn to TOR and turn end points on en masse in the process. Then the gov pretty much becomes fsck'd.

Evidently they're making a movie based on that.

I can't imagine how. I felt like I was reading a novel that had been transcribed by a stroke victim into partial word salad.

Wouldn't this be a good time for the zombotnet and whatever supervillian controls it to bring the internet to its knees, halting everything until SOPA is dropped?
