Hey there all Caturdayans!

Been lurking for the most part the last few weeks, been busy birthin babies! (the human kind)

Lots of prayers and hugs and mass doses of endorphins and love going out to Alien and Gremmy and all of the others here at Caturday that have loved and lost their little furry one.

We had a doula when Brenna was born. She was a great help with a rough delivery and very tight nuchal cord and aspirated meconium and keeping Melissa focused on Melissa and the placenta so the docs could take care of Brenna. I don't know if you know how much good you (as an individual and as a profession) do, but you do much good.

Got dusty while I was typing. Childbirth is beautiful, it's the most feminine thing a woman can do, and your helping in it is a wonderful thing. Every woman who has a baby in a hospital should have one.

Good afternoon every body! My day "off" has been filled with tons of household chores. Did get a good pic of Eli sitting on the tent I made him few yrs back. I told him he was using it wrong! Maybe I will get that uploaded today.

Well, back to work!

LOL! Oops! Well, congrats to all of your new mommies. I love the idea of women helping women in childbirth, like it used to be. Along with the modern medicine, if needed, of course.

My heater's in the bathroom floor at the moment. Doing some work on the heater closet in preparation for a new heater/central air unit this summer. Through eating, should probably go back to work and stop popping in here.

Also, an appropriate song for today's day in history. (new window) This came out when I was in high school.

I have been thinking..here is what I would like to do, re: Poetry. I do not know if there would be that many people willing to buy a book of them, so I was thinking, that if one of my poems moves you enough that you want to print a copy, then send 5 bucks to Little Mews for their vet expenses. All I ask is that you be sure to give me credit...tigerose..you can add my real life name under it. That way all the copyright happiness is taken care of, and Little Mews gets some needed cash. And this way, we can do something seperate for Alien, and the two don't compete.

Besides, the Elves are on vacation!

Oh my gosh, Tigerose I feel for you. When I was about 11 or 12 (I think?) I was cleaning stalls and working with some elderly people's 3 horses in exchange for riding privileges so I could take lessons. One time I was standing nose to nose with a big gentle gelding named Tony, scratching his face and talking to him, etc. He stepped forward so one of his hooves was on top of my foot. I was wearing docksiders with no socks, because that's what we wore in the early eighties lol. He hadn't stepped down with his full weight so I just said "Tony, get off my foot" and pushed against his chest. Instead of picking up his foot and stepping back, he dragged his hoof, causing insane pain. When I finally got my foot out of the leather shoe it was a bloody mess and my big toe nail was not attached. I believe it was some of the worst pain I have ever felt. I was doing epsom soaks and twice a day bandage changes for a few weeks.

WonderStuff: maynerdkitty: OK, I got off of work late last night and did NOT feel well at all. I had to pick up a RX at wally world ( on a weekend no less) and picked up a sandwich from the deli, as I was on my lunch hour. I am sure that is what did it to me. By the time I got off work and fed all the critters I was not well. I made a cup of anise tea, took some ginger root and went to bed. Had to get up and visit the bathroom and as I sat on the floor I noticed how warm it was and how tired I was. I got a pillow and throw from the sofa and and went back into the bathroom to wait out the sandwich. After praying to the porcelain gods I must have fallen asleep. I woke up hours later and felt much better, as I sat up I heard CAT TOYS falling off of me! Li-Ion was curled up near me under the edge of the vanity, I remember him walking on me and nuzzling my hair, but why would he put cat toys on me? I shook off all his art work and went back to bed for the rest of the night, slept until 7 am. and got up feeling so much better. He is a strange little cat.

//cat toys?

BuaHAHAHAHAHHAHA. That's hillarious. Maybe he thought they would make you feel better!

I am glad everyone is putting this odd behavior in perspective for me. Cause while I was half asleep and so very sick I thought Li-Ion was dancing around like a shaman and doing some kind of healing chant. I pictured him with little grass leggings and walking on his hind legs. He seemed to have little rattles in his front paws. I don't know what all was in that sandwich but I will never go to that deli again!

It's snowed off and on here (Vancouver) for the last couple days -- just as I read your post, I kid you not, I looked out the window to see that it's just started to snow again, in the last 5 minutes! I love the snow too. Thank god I don't have a car, because nobody here even dreams about putting on winter tires until it's actually snowing. Then it's like "OMG an inch of snow WTF is this shiat? we're all gonna die!!!" Having a couple friends over tonight, one of them is a city bus driver, he always has fun snow driving stories to tell.

There's a bunch of chickadees and robins in the big maple tree outside. The chickadees are partying it up. The robins are hunched up quietly sitting there looking all cold and pissed off. It was unseasonably warm here until about a week ago. I bet every robin is thinking, "Which one of you dumbasses said it was spring?! Screw this crap, when's the next bus to California?"

Here is a picture I took on my walk with Buddy on Saturday afternoon. The snow blew in that evening.

Hahaha! I had a dream like that once, and I was sick too! I could hear my dog Chi-Chi's toenails clickity-clicking across the kitchen floor and somehow that worked its way into my dream. I dreamt Chi-Chi was standing up on his hind legs, holding a fancy little cane in his front paws and wearing a dapper little top hat, doing a little vaudeville-style tap dancing number all around the kitchen. When I woke up he was sitting next to the couch looking up at me and wagging his tail.

Just wanted to duck through and say hello!

To everyone who's lost a pet recently, my sincere condolences.

I completely missed most of last Caturday, so I didn't hear about Ben-Hurr until a couple of days ago when I was lurking here. :( I'm so sad - I'll miss doing Louie Anderson captions on his photos. I hope Alien and Gremlin both feel better soon, and her housing situation improves greatly. I don't have anything to give right now, but I'm sending all the good vibes I can.

One of the stories in here reminded me of my cat Kirby's 'backstory', if you will. Once I can find a picture of him as a wee kitten, I'll share it. Maybe next week.

Have a good week, everyone!
