Love Sidles In

Sometimes Love creeps in,
On tender Kitten paws,
Softly, soundlessly.

We are caught up,
Before we realize.

Love had entered in.

Sometimes
Love comes,
Gallumping in.
Scatters the papers of our lives
Chaos,
Priorities turn upside down,
Across the table of our lives.

Settles.

Creates a display so lovely,
It makes us
Weep.

Love gives as it demands,
Enriches.
Challenges.
Stretches the fiber of our being.

And in the end,
Gives us the strength,

To accept a loss,
Courage to make a new friend,

And share with others,

L33t Squirrel: covered in beees: hey L33t, where are you from?

Originally, Stockton, CA. I'm coming back home to Lodi this time, though, which is pretty much the same area, but run by the Russian and German Mafias, instead of the Mexican Mafia. (Only sorta not joking. Seriously.) I miss both places terribly, however you cut it, and despite last week's report that Stockton is one of the "Top 10 Worst-Run Cities in the U.S." that was on Fark. Don't care, I'd rather live there than most anywhere else. I grew up with the crazy there, so I know it, and it knows me. I am the crazy.

DingleberryMoose: Reminds me of Zaphod Beeblebrox.

Well, I am quite the hoopy frood, I always know where my towel is, and I don't panic. :)

Ahhhh, I am from just north of Sacramento, right near Beale AFB, its so funny how many people i meet from my neck of the woods. And even though our area is probably the meth capital of cali, i still love it. Must be a thing.

tigerose: catmandu: I want to apologize to everyone for being mostly absent the last few Caturdays. Between getting used to going to Mordor daily and now the craziness of getting the other offer I have really only been lurking since my brain seems to be overly stuffed. Anyway, things are going well at the house of Catmandu. Mandu is still craving attention whenever he can, Mika is as goofy as always, Mom bounced back from her major health setback and is stronger and more active than she was a year ago at this time (which is really saying something considering that she has been around for 91 years!).

No new pictures of the goofballs so here are a couple of my favorites:

My Uncle is 92. Sharp as the proverbial tack! He is living in a retirement home now. I think he is happy with the company. And he loves cats!

Thanks for posting pics. They are new to me! Ooh..gorgeous kittehs!

you think we can figure out a way to get them together? Mom needs a distraction now that college football is over and pro football is almost done. Of course, she still has college basketball to follow.........

Just finished the shelves for my brewing area and opened a homebrew to celebrate. Unfortunately, I made the top shelf exactly the width of the board itself too high and can't put the front section in if I've got carboys with airlocks in there. Guess I'll order some shorter airlocks. Duh for me. OTOH, this beer I brewed about a year ago (10/14/10) on wild yeast has finally lost some of the stronger esters and become pretty palatable if you like Saaz hops, which I do. Mainly I popped back in to mention that's a nice poem there, tigerose.

Wiggins Hat: I haven't read the whole thread yet, but isn't it a mild form of abuse when someone lets their pet get so obese? I mean, I've had dogs & cats most of my life and I know how easy (and fun) it is to spoil them with goodies, but there has to be a limit. I just think that if we are responsible for the care and well being of our furry family members, than people need to act more responsibly when it comes to their diet as well. Anyway, just my 2 cents. This was not intended to troll or purposly piss anyone off.

I don't consider your making an intelligent observation trolling. I happen to agree with you, and would just like to note that ANY drastic weight change (either gaining or losing) could be an indicator of a serious health problem and should be checked ASAP.

I make wine rather than beer...but if I'm using 'raw' ingredients (aka blueberries, pluots, mint*, etc) rather than juice-from-the-health-food-section I add a Campden tablet or two (depending on how big a batch I'm making).

This is a sulfite tablet and it basically levels the playing field, killing off any wild and/or extraneous yeast that may be lurking on the fruit or vegetable matter.
You need to let it sit for at least 24 hours before adding your 'real' yeast...but then that yeast is the only one doing its bubbly yeasty fermenty thang and you don't get the 'off' flavors that can really mess up your product.

* Yes, mint DOES make a really good wine! Tangy, tingley and if served chilled is DA BOMB on hot summer evenings...

I can't read patterns, but it goes like this:
stitch 2, single stitch into stitch 1, make a circle, make the circle bigger by single stitch/single crochet until it gets big enough for the top of your head. I use my hand with outstretched fingers. When it's as big as you want, keep going on the rounds, but don't increase. That will give you the sides of the hat. Keep going until it's as long as you want it (I like to try it on and make sure it goes past my ears) and then slip crochet it a few times, then tie it off and sew in loose ends.
