Real veterans would've taken a piss on the restaurant's owner after shooting him dead, who are these panzies?

Love this!

This is just a liberal lie from that partisan rag ThinkProgress.org. Obviously they're trying to drive a wedge between Real Americans and the troops . . . but it's not going to work!

Christian tolerance for Muslims. This is new?

I'll bet they are secretly spying on us for Iran, just waiting for a nuclear engineer to get tempted by the smell of their falafel.

This vet would gladly patronize that place, I bet the chai is deliciously real. In fact, I'm not too far from the Lowell area..

Massachusetts harbors al Quaida sleeper cell? I'm not saying they are, I'm just asking questions.

Dust in my eye prevents further snark.

Well technically TFA indicates that the motivation behind the thrown rock was unknown. The important this is that is what if felt like to the owners and why what the veterans are doing is so cool.

This.

Of course, then three links down we have people trying to reinstate DADT. I want to believe the good guys will win out eventually, but sometimes it's difficult.

I'm totally behind what the vets are doing. I'm also pretty damn sure about the motivation of the unnamed rock-thrower.

It's wonderful to be reminded that there are still plenty of people who get what America is all about, even if they're not the ones making the most noise. Bravo, veterans! I'm going to call the restaurant and have them serve a round on me.

Best use of the Hero tag I've seen in months. Maybe years. Bravo for finding this subby, and bravo Patrick Scanlon. The military needs more people like you.

I think I know who can get to the bottom of what happened. She handled a similar situation a few years ago.

Our military is dedicated to the protection of Iraqis, and therefore we should send them back into Iraq.

To me it's the "20lb rock" part. I mean, if it's a rando act of vandalism by some kids, maybe the pick up some busted concrete or something and throw it to break a window. But a 20lb rock? That's not just sitting around. That takes some effort...

Might want to make it Orange Soda. Might be the sensitive thing to do since, you know, it being an Iraqi restaurant and all.

/knows that there are christians and jews in Iraq
//but better safe than sorry

Good for the vets and other customers. And especially GOOD for the restaurant family. Immigrants adding their cultural two-cents via awesome food is, when you really think about it, the true essence of America. Long live the melting pot!

/Fox viewer--but not a fear-monger. All entertainment outlets, including "normal" news channels, have their kooky parts.

I was honestly expecting everything after "Hero Veterans show solidarity by" to be the exact opposite of what it actually said. Damn, for once I'm glad I was proven wrong.

/To be fair, it's in the north. We're sane up here.
//If it were in the south, $100 says the outcome would be 100% different.

no kidding - is that what was going on?

I live about a block away from where this happened and had no idea but there were about 5 cop cars, two fire trucks and at least one paramedic van.

closed down all lanes for about an hour

I have a hard time believing that the owner wasn't behind this. Americans don't throw stones, they use asinine building codes to shut places down.

See Occupy evictions and the "health code" excuse.

It's because there's food involved. Americans love food.

Right. This awesomeness. FYI, I live in Canada and my son-in-law is Palestinian. He has opened a successful
restaurant in one province and is now looking for more opportunities where I live. His work ethic, commitment to a new country, heritage and love for my daughter is self evident.
He is doing exactly what the Iraqi owner is doing by creating jobs for his fellow Arabs and Canadians. He has had one incidence of racism in the town his first restaurant is in, and it wasn't from an anonymous rock thrower. It was from the local health inspector, who racked up a completely bogus report, just because my son-in-law and his partner were being successful over other established non-ethnic restaurants.

I applaud these veterans for what they have done. It should speak volumes to other citizens, or at least make them think about their views on Arabs living in North America.

2012-01-12 03:52:25 PM
Is it wrong that I'm curious if it's a shawarma place? Because in that instance the rock might not have been a hate crime... just someone jonesing for delicious shawarma.

/addicted to Iraqi food
//Great job, fellow vets!
