Why the inconsistency between single and double quotes, huh grammarmitter?

There's no "I", but there sure is a "ME".

Watching people struggle with spelling while using those dry erase boards is one of the few things that almost makes Sportsnation tolerable.

Almost.

Sports broadcasters aren't hired for their spelling, they're hired for their speaking ability and command of the English language.

Wait what?

serial_crusher: Why the inconsistency between single and double quotes, huh grammarmitter?

Double-quotes imply ownership, that a specific person said the quoted term, phrase, or sentence. Single-quotes do not.

Then why did ESPN hire Emmitt Smith?

I thought he got busted trying to by heroin in Memphis. Glad to see I was wrong.

Griz making the Knicks look silly right now.

I wish more ESPN competitors would use things like this. "ESPN is full of morans and it is making you dumber" back to the anchor desk here at NBC Sportsnet or whatever they're called. FSN could say we're dumb but we're not THAT dumb.

Huh. I was not aware of that. Learn something new every day...

yadumey: Huh. I was not aware of that. Learn something new every day...

It apparently differs from writer to writer. It's a personal preference, but I did a Google search and I was able to find documentation supporting it. There's a ton of confusion over quotations between American English and British English. For instance, in British English, over punctuation in quotes. That is, you only place the punctuation in quotes if the punctuation is part of the quote.

Sorry for the derail, but this is more interesting than anything Broussard has done on television.

It's news to me as well, but my own google search didn't turn anything up that supported your argument (I got bored with it pretty quick though, so I'm going to trust you)

Know what? Fark it. Don't hold me to it. I think this may have been a habit I picked up in my own farked-up world. I'll keep doing it anyway. Meh.

To be fair, there IS no "h" in Mempis.

Cris Broussard is almost as bad a commentator as Stepen A. Smit. Well, almost anyone involved wit the NBA section of ESPN can usually be pointed out as not fully qualified to be a good TV personality.

Alternatively, you can always say "But there's also no 'u'"

Also, I like JimmySlicings' post.

I don't mind Wilbon, because I like him on PTI, and he's much more tolerable than Stuart Scott, whom I can't stand with every fiber of my being. Broussard should stick to being the NBA's Adam Shefter, Magic needs to form his words in his head before he speaks, and that biatch Jon Barry can go fark himself .
