Here's a little known fact: Siegfried? Evil. Roy? Not so much.

I will not be the only person who thought he got mauled by a tiger.

Quick, what's the fastest way to turn a fruit into a vegetable?

Let a tiger loose on stage.

Calmamity: I will not be the only person who thought he got mauled by a tiger.

Yep. "Eaten by tiger" was my first thought.

Have there been any good comedies where the name of the movie is the name of the character?

2012-01-12 03:19:28 PM
Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy

Paul Blart: Mall Cop

dnicoloff: Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy

So that's a NO, right?

Inaditch: Have there been any good comedies where the name of the movie is the name of the character?

Singular or plural?

These are mostly just off the top of my head, and I recognize that the determination of "good" will just come down to taste:
Singular:
Happy Gilmore - even though I tend to not like Sandler - this one always makes me laugh
Fletch - too bad there were no sequels made.....yep...not a single sequel.
Austin Powers
Napoleon Dynamite
Maverick
Orgazmo
Dave

In the Plural category:
The Blues Brothers
The Goonies
The Three Amigos

Young Frankenstein.

And then...

Arthur (the original one)
Private Benjamin
Cat Ballou
Bean

Napoleon Dynamite does not belong on that list. There was exactly 2 moments in that entire movie that were laugh out loud funny(Uncle Rico chucking steaks at Napoleon, and the scene where Uncle Rico shocks the shiat out of himself with the "Time Machine". The rest was sad wtf type moments that only someone intentionally trying to latch onto something weird would enjoy.

Also, add Billy Madison to the list.

what?

More of a dark comedy I guess

Fletch Lives wasn't as good as the first, but it wasn't as bad as I remembered it.

Ok, I agree with some of those choices. Maybe half mentioned are worth watching. The only one I could think of was Bucky Larson *shudder*

Others will hate you for saying that aloud, but when they do you can take solace in the fact that I am celebrating you, sir.

/Similar to 'Reefer Madness' no one enjoys' Napoleon Dynamite' while they're watching it.. they enjoy telling other people about it later.

Hey Mr. Cat Poop and velvet_fog - stop trying to destroy my carefully constructed reality where there were no sequels to Fletch or the Matrix and no Star Wars movies after Episode VI.

I started watching the Dana Carvey Show for the first time this week. Carell kills me with the horrible pranksters and waiters who are nauseated by food sketches.

Harold and Kumar, people!

The Adventures of Buckaroo Bonzai Across the 8th Dimension

2012-01-12 05:17:37 PM
Schindler's List
Bronco Billy
Flash Gordon
Michael Clayton
etc.

/ I'm laughing just typing this

Technically there wasn't.

Same here. I was thinking "Did he learn nothing about not working with animals after 'Evan Almighty'?"

Arthur (the original one)
Private Benjamin
Cat Ballou

I'm just going to assume Cat Ballu and Private Benjamin are really shiatty movies

Siegfried is locked in an opaque box, with a potion that, in less than 1 minute, has a 50% chance of turning him into Roy. You wait one minute. Before opening the box, who do you believe is inside, Siegfried or Roy?

Answer: Steve Carrell
(Would also accept Kirby Van Burch as answer)

/Schrödinger's illusion box

Street Fighter:The Legend Of Chun-Li

It was a comedy. Of sorts.

Yeah, like 50. You might wanna get out more.

I just can't get into him as an actor. I think he's funny but this whole Will Ferrell-esque, wouldn't-it-be-great-if-I-played-this-character-straightly-earnest character actor thing he's got going on just doesn't do it for me.

2012-01-13 01:01:34 AM
He's slowly turning into Joe Estevez.

Man....how hot was Jane Fonda? She's the reason westerns take place in desserts.

Couldn't be any worse than the S&F cartoon named, I kid you not, "Sigfried and Roy: Masters of the Impossible." I bet they are.
