The brain imaging thing totally blows me away. Insane.

"The ingenuity of game players," said biochemist Firas Khatib, "is a formidable force that, if properly directed, can be used to solve a wide range of scientific problems."

Well, until they take an arrow to the knee anyway.

If MW3 can solve problems like that, just imagine what problems a legion of farkers could cause... err... fix.

A device that lets you see through walls

Unless, of course, the wall is made out of chicken wire, or has some sort of foil-backed insulation, or a significant amount of rebar in it.

They mention 8 feet of concrete, but they *DON'T* mention the effect of things like rebar. If there is a line of rebar at the same height as the radar beam, it's going to reflect that beam back to the antenna, and pretty much limit the usefulness of something like that.

Even a fence made out of chicken wire would almost completely stop it: A 10 centimeter wavelength signal has a quarter-wavelength of 2.5 centimeters, which is roughly an inch, a common 'hole' size for chicken wire.

A cheap, low-tech, and effective countermeasure to the latest and greatest technology.

I don't think they're concerned about the ability to see through chicken wire.

Pretty good list, but they missed the CURE FOR ALL VIRUSES.

you know, it never crossed my mind until you mentioned this... but, you can look through chicken wire unaided. I hate it when the brain is fails to perform its god given job.

/ of course, I know, just put up an opaque wall, and then put up chicken wire

I would modify that to: The Fark Soldiers of the Marine Core.

Well, chicken wire is sometimes used as an element in ferrocement.

Also, as I pointed out, it's a low-tech solution to a high tech capability. Don't want people to use radar to penetrate your bunker and see where you are? Put up some aluminum foil or chicken wire to block the signal.

I am all for cardiac-powered devices that inject movie images directly into my brain.

Maybe some day technology will advance to the point that we could that could toast a bagel to a golden brown without creating charcoal.

So, it's sort of like "putting on a tin foil hat"?
