FTFA: "[Gingrich] has little chance to win the nomination, but he has none if he doesn't stay in the race."

Now that's some hard-hitting political analysis. How would we make sense of things without CNN Contributor Ari Fleischer?

So the guy who finishes 4th in NH and IA has the best shot? What about RON PAUL? I don't like him but he clearly has better support amongst the non-Romney's.

All Romney needs to do is make Newt sit at the back of the plane, for all hell to break loose.

There is an assertion among many pundits that Ron Paul's support is "capped" - that he is too mich of a lunatic to get much more support than he currently gets.

And I can't blame them for having that opinion. Whether it is true or not remains to be seen.

I have been told that reporters as a matter of policy are prohibited from using language above an 8th level. I suppose that leads to analysis that is also on that level.

You know, if I were a Republican, I'd be 'pissed off' at the way the media seems to be trying to get the others to drop out.

I don't give one good goddamn for Ron Paul, but the way that this guy says that his strong showings mean nothing and that his appeal is 'diminishing before our eyes' in spite of the reality to the contrary...

I'd not like it if I were a Paulite. Not one bit.

That said, the longer this primary goes on, the better for everyone else. Romney stands no chance, but the longer the primary goes on, the bigger that thrashing will be come November.

Do you think Gingrich is unaware of how his own attacks can, and will, be taken and reused by the Democrats after Gingrich is long gone? Is he 'deliberately' sabotaging his own party out of pride and spite?

Romney's going to be battered, bleeding and limping coming 'into' the national election season...and Obama is going to rip him apart with a trunk full of material supplied by the GOP primary season.

It may well be the most glorious thing we've ever seen.

odinsposse: So the guy who finishes 4th in NH and IA has the best shot? What about RON PAUL? I don't like him but he clearly has better support amongst the non-Romney's.

2 things

1. his support is highly dependent on "independent voters." These are people who might be democrats, or people who aren't registered with the republican party. That works well for him in NH where those people are allowed to vote, or iowa where its trivial to get into the caucus's. But a lot of states require you be registered with the party to vote in their primary, and don't make it easy to switch affiliations to make a single vote. So in terms of the republican primary, he wont be able to get a lot of his supporters to a place where they CAN vote for him

2. His support is limited. ultimately he is a polarizing figure, so he will run in to a cap

The media decided a long time ago that he's a joke candidate. So even though in terms of percentages he's in second place, they'll spend all their time talking about Gingrich.

I'm still hoping for a Huntsman surge of support, but I'm not holding my breath. He, so far, has the least amount of damaging material out there; but that's only because he's been a dark horse for so long. I'm sure once the spotlight gets on him, it's game over.

Which goes to show how nuts the base is. Newt is far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, more likely to attempt delivery on his conservative promises than Romney is. Romney is being another McCain: lying to the base about his intentions and credentials to get elected. Either they're old and insane or they're too young to remember the Contract with America and Newt's leadership.

Want to impeach Obama? Why not elect a man who successfully impeached Clinton? (Only to have the Senate trial fail - but that's the Senate's fault.)

The way Hannity was talking last night, FNC is pulling for Romney. Queen Sarah doesn't like Mitt but Sean kept on trying to get her to tear down candidates other than him.

Ailes musta got the RNC memo about Romney being the one recently.

Yes, but Newt is also seen a slimy, two-faced politician with no real values. At this point I think the Republicans would rather have someone that might screw them over rather than someone they know will screw them over.
