Iraq, Iran, Syria, Libya, Cuba, North Korea, and Sudan

Jebus....

I'm all for this war against terrorism...as long as it doesn't turn into a war against all countries that don't think the way the US does...

2001-11-08 10:22:47 AM
BOOM!

2001-11-08 10:39:51 AM
FYI: eventually != next

The article says eventually, the headline says next. While I agree the whole Iraq bidness really needs to be finished once-and-for-all, I'm not sure it's imminent. Powell's a smart guy, and Bush/Rumsfeld have been pretty cautious not to appear bloodthirsty, so I suspect it'll take some kind of direct, obvious, overt action on Saddam's part to get any serious action going.

And yes, I blame Clinton and Kofi Annan for allowing this threat to linger for so long. The U.N. mandated inspections as a condition to get the bombers to stop pounding the country into dust... either comply, or the bombers start flying again. None of this "eject the inspectors, and then start bargaining" crap.

Go powell, go powell, it's your birthday, happy birthday

YAY!

2001-11-08 10:48:08 AM
I wonder if there's some way we could sneak France onto that list.

2001-11-08 10:51:56 AM
Frig "sneaking" France onto the list. Let's just do it! Would anyone REALLY miss those whiny frogs anyway?

2001-11-08 11:00:44 AM
Someone's making a shiat list and checking it twice...

2001-11-08 11:01:31 AM
I blame Tanya Harding for the whole freakin' war!!

2001-11-08 11:01:37 AM
Drew should make a new tag - "Redundant."

I kind of figured Iraq was next on the "Enduring Freedom to win another term" attack list, ever since CNN/Fox News (whichever wing you follow) reported the Anthrax being mailed was from either the U.S., Iraq, or Soviet Union.

Oh well, I've found that arguing about the politics of war on an internet forum take way too much energy for no end result.

{pop!}
{pop!}
{pop!}

What's that sound? it's the tree-huggers popping off the trees to come and rant about this abominable US policy.

farking homo-retards. Go eat some bark.

2001-11-08 11:04:11 AM
That wasn't meant to be an attack on Bush's agenda, but who cares. Some extreme right will come out with a "you aren't an American, commie!" statement sooner or later. Never fails.

Frankly, the only thing attacking our freedom is our own government, but that's another debate altogether.

fight big brother. fight ashcroft :)

2001-11-08 11:07:49 AM
You hear that? It's the sound of a conservanazi that thinks their views are above all others!

Go research what is happening, and take a look at what both sides are saying.

farking opinionnazis. Go bow before big brother and question nothing.

2001-11-08 11:15:57 AM
FifthColumn: '"Enduring Freedom to win another term" ' No, that wasn't an attack on Bush's agenda. I hate to break it to you, but it's not just the extreme right that is backing this war. It's the right, middle, and even most of the left. Only the freaks with their own agenda are against it.

You have continuously stated that you don't believe mainstream media, that they are puppets, and that you will only get your news from certain 'reliable' sources. Doesn't it seem stupid to get your news only from sources that agree with your warped agenda? The mainstream media says that the US is NOT killing millions of babies in Iraq so they must be lying because my left wing newspaper printed in someones garage says that they are killing millions of babies in Iraq.

2001-11-08 11:31:34 AM
Ahhh... Powell... the man that should have been president. I'm all for kicking ass... but I don't know why we are going to kick the shiat out of Cuba, and North Korea. I don't like Commies... but those two have been kind of quiet for a while now.

2001-11-08 11:33:18 AM
We are not killing the babies... our embargoes are. Embargo's that wouldn't be there if they'd just follow the treaty that their government signed.

It's not about whether the news source is telling the truth or not. Usually they do tell the truth, but there is so much sensationalizing that you have to pick through every news article to find out what is really happening.

right wing news sources tell truth as do left wing sources... and to the discerning eye they are both useful, but to the sheep they are a reason to get upset.

2001-11-08 11:33:38 AM
Never said they were killing "millions of babies", but I was saying that with our "strategic" bombings, we are killing too many people on the side lines that had nothing to do with the attacks. If this war is going to continue, we need to find a new avenue in which to attack, because our bombines so far have been a big waste of time.

And yes I do believe most of the mainstream media are puppets. Not that hard to believe it when you get one side of the story from CNN and the other from Fox News. But I check multiple sources, even if I don't agree with them, to form my opinions. I don't go to right/left/whatever wing sites only but to them all to read from their perspective. Sadly, it seems most of the right wings sites I go to think Clinton is to blame for all past, present, and future problems in the world. Which kind of takes away from the research part.

I also know that it's not just the right wings supporting this war, thanks for stating the obvious. I never said it was just right wings, but they are the ones running the show. After all, if you don't agree with their opinions you are obvious unAmerican and deserve to be killed with the rest of the commies. It's another witch hunt to weed out those with different views on a situation.

And finally, I wouldn't be against the war if it didn't have so many negative side effect for American citizens. Because of the paranoia, because of the "security" the elected want, we are losing our freedom. Now, do away with the stupid entries in the Patriot Act (mostly all of said bill), and we have taken the first step in regaining the freedom we have lost recently.

2001-11-08 11:36:29 AM
And yes, I am working for my own Agenda. My agenda is to complain and voice my opinions when something is happening which threatens my freedoms. A real american voices their opinons, a real american fights for their freedom in any way they can. The terrorists didn't attack our freedom like the elected would have you believe - our own government is attacking our freedom. the terrorists attacked the government. Much like we are attacking the Taliban government by sending missles that never seem to hit anything truely important, except civilian housing when it crashes.

2001-11-08 11:38:48 AM
I should also note that not all of the right wing sites I go to think Clinton is responsible. I've found a couple I go to regularly that seem to be more or less, over the Clinton scandel, and are, you know, focused on bringing you CURRENT news.

Is it me or is the US becoming very like Lisa Simpson? "I am woman - hear me roar!"

I think we should do what all the hippies think and just shower all the countries of the world with love and free stuff to show that we don't defend ourself. That will make us loved.

2001-11-08 11:42:01 AM

*sigh* last time I'm clearing up one of my statements to stop people from taking what I say too literally.

I never said it was just right wings, but they are the ones running the show. After all, if you don't agree with their opinions you are obvious unAmerican and deserve to be killed with the rest of the commies. It's another witch hunt to weed out those with different views on a situation.

This refers to the extreme right wings, and extreme left wings. I forgot to tack that little part on. Sadly it's hard to hear what the non-fanatical people have to say, as only the fanatics scream the loudest.

2001-11-08 11:43:25 AM
No the US is becoming more like Homer Simpson, "D'oh"

2001-11-08 11:45:49 AM
Incidently, why does Colin Powell insist on having his first name pronounced "Coelin"? Is it because he's a pretentious prick or because he thinks it lends him an air of mystery to an otherwise boring personality?

2001-11-08 11:46:30 AM
If Iraq is next that's pretty much the end of everything. All other muslim nations will freak and declare jihad against the US coalition. Then it's WW3; the US coalition against the muslim nations. Out come the nukes and that's pretty much the end of us all. US officials keep insisting this is against terrorist networks and not specific nations or peoples but it can't stay that way for long. If Iran and Indonesia declare jihad, bend over and kiss your ass goodbye.

2001-11-08 11:47:33 AM
I'm tired of being told that, just because I happen to support our government, I've become a "puppet", and a "sheep", and that I'm slavishly following Big Brother.

I've got a co-worker who continually screams about Big Media and sends us stuff about the top "censored" news stories. Face it, Noam Chomsky is intrinsically no more trustworthy than anyone else.

Everyone's got their own agenda; the people who don't believe yours are not necessarily wrong. That's the mindset the Al Queda types work with.

Goatman, I haven't really paid attention, so excuse me for asking, but where are you from?

Several polls of the general population have agreed that 90% of the nation agrees with the US action right now, I think is was 80% for continuing the campain elsewhere after Afghanistan. As long as the mojority agrees that should be our course of action. If you disagree, fine. Unlike the Taliban we allow that in the US. However, don't expect to make any huge difference, other than proving to the people around you how stupid you ideas are.

But this is only the thoughts of a mind controlled media/government drone/patriot robot. Because I don't agree with your ideals and that makes me evil.

fifthcolumn: "the terrorists attacked the government"

Really? That's intersesting, i swore they killed a couple civilians.

We need to kill them or they're going to kill us. Your freedoms or your life? Which do you want? Guess what? You can't be free if you're dead.

I would love to work for Big Brother.
Where do I send my resume?

Smoky McPott: Our embargo isn't killing anyone, the choices being made by the Iraqi government is.

FifthColumn: I agree Clinton is not solely to blame. It would have been impossible to foresee the attacks coming. He was only in office for eight years. I think that more should have been done over the last twenty years to put an end to terrorism. Starting back in 1983 with the bombing of the Marine barracks in Lebanon the U.S. should have acted preemptively. The cold war probably would have prevented this, but nations that supported terrorism should have been isolated and their governments replaced. Though Bush Sr. is partly responsible, Clinton was in power for the majority of the post cold war period and should have done more.

Meshman: Unlikely.

WW3 with the Muslim nations? That would be scary their swords are pretty big!

2001-11-08 12:28:05 PM
Yep, Bomb the brown people!!!!

Jesus fark people, how many more bombs can this country drop before we get a nuke in the ass?

Stop bombing people for GP. It is not nice.

Tuff, your forgeting who started this. And Bin Laden called for the use of nuclear weapons against all ennemys of Islam a decade ago. The fact that we haven't has been purely luck and the exorbinate prices on nukes the Russian Mafiya has.

p.s.- Do you really think that race has anything to do with this? Because it doesn't to them. They are calling for the extermination of any culture that doesn't conform to thier twisted ideals. Everyone on the planet not a fanatical muslim extreamist. We just happened to be the initial target.

"But that's just the opinion of a media/corporate/government controlled drone/patriot robot. Because if I don't agree with your ideals I'm EVIL."

Fifth Column, when the plane hit the Pentagon, they attacked our government, and as a military asset it was arguably a legitimate target in war (which makes them legitimate targets in war, of course).

When the planeshiat the WTC, they attacked our country.

2001-11-08 01:43:31 PM
Fifth Column: Did you forget that our country is at war?

Innocent people die in wars. It's a fact.

The dumb towel headed bastards should have thought about that before they brought down 4 air liners and killed thousands of innocent Americans. As I see it, if the final American body count from 9/11 is 5,000 then we OWE them 500,000.

Fark 'em. they get what they deserve.

No one answered Goatman's question.

Goatman: You being a brit might not know this just from reading the net but we Americans speak completely differently than you guys. No no, it's true I swear it's so different I don't know if it can be really called English. Not only that but like the UK we have many many regional dialects(?). So to answer your question, no he isn't being a prick, it's how he pronounces it.

it's never a loss of freedom to be taxed to death, or have federal regulations on every aspect of life, but it's a loss of freedom to have tougher terrorism laws? Are we for or against big brother or are we for left leaning policy and against right?-Just wondering

2001-11-08 05:46:28 PM
There's a rumor going around that The U.S. is building weapons of mass destruction. We might want to look into that as well.

2001-11-08 06:03:13 PM
It is an overstated point, but here it is again. If/When the govt. runs out of terrorist to "question" they will need to find more. I beleive that the threshold on what will be defined as terrorism will drop so we can round up anybody that doesn't want to play along. Think about the things that you have in your house right now. If someone kicked in your door and did a search would you go to jail? Would you be taken in for questioning? Would you have to explain yourself? Would you then feel the full force of your lose of your 4th amendment? Is the only thing keeping that from happening the colour of your skin?

Perhaps a little off-topic, but here an article worth reading for those of you concerned about ICBM or Nuclear warhead attacks:

You guys are all farked.

The U.S. started all this with their stupid foreign policy that alienates anyone who doesn't agree with them.
All this talk about nuking people is sick.
The U.S. is the only country to use nuclear weapons in anger and they should be ashamed of that!
If you get hit with one yourselves then you've only got yourselves to blame - you reap the seeds you sow.
Remember that if the U.S. is stupid enough to use nuclear weapons in Afganistan the radiation fallout will kill many of their own soldiers and civilian allies in nabouring countries. Not to mention the fallout back in the states as it circles the globe.
Oh, I forgot to mention the death and destuction caused by the retaliation strikes on the U.S. mainland - this is sure to happen as the security in the U.S. is so bad that you can mail deseases around without fear of getting caught.
And the mis-information your government hands out just makes you a laughing stock around the world.
I have to tell you this: We can see through the lies guys!
Today the bridges are all under threat of destruction then the next day we get: sorry the information we gave you was incorrect.
I hope you all have great confidence in your leaders and I'm glad I live on another continent where I'm safe.
Feeling safe and secure are we?
The U.S. makes itself an easy target.
The stupid comments you all make just confirm to the rest of us how stupid you yanks really are!
