The company has been battling increasing pressure from raw-materials prices and a higher tax burden in the U.S.

What complete political bullshiat. They paid 23% taxes on their profits of $4.3billion last fiscal year. Well below the established corporate rate of 35% and below my own fark'n tax rate.

A2M?

Wow... 3% staff reductions, for about 1000 people in the US.

BFD. And they're expecting early retirement incentives to do it. It's not like they're going to suddenly confess to using their Spiro Agnew / Dick Nixon connections to get a minimum price on sugar in order to promote their high fructose corn syrup business. You know, the business that makes HFCS cheaper than real sugar in everything these days.

Sheesh, I don't know why people bother reporting these things.

Hopefully those laid off can find a vending machine to switch plasmids and get some telekinesis. Then they can throw shiat back at the security bots.

The kings of political graft and corporate subsidies
They've taken your tax dollars to subsidize making your diet less healthy and your fuel more expensive.

And if the research pans out in identifying corn syrup as the cause of human obesity and diabetes...

It's funny because I work here...

They have been what they like to call "streamlining" our workforce for a year now. Cross training everyone to learn the others jobs "just in case someone is sick". They new this was coming.

Also, it is just going to be the salaried non-plant employees. AKA:IT people. It's really got everyone in a buzz. The letter from Pat (Patricia Wortz, CEO) was priceless... From a lady who made $14,689,022 in 2009...

"While I am confident that these are the right actions for our company, I am also mindful of the impact on colleagues and their families."

No you are not... average income of an ADM employee is under 50k a year... Your salary is 293 of them.

dang sure: And if the research pans out in identifying corn syrup as the cause of human obesity and diabetes...

They need to pay researchers to figure that out? Uh sugar makes you fat and if you pour a gallon or three down your throat every day for years your going to be a Hugh Jazz fattie.
