#1 can stay. #5 for second. #7 for third. The rest can fight it out.

Let's Dance at #2? That's pretty bold.

Suffragette City is a better track than Ziggy Stardust?

I know its probably not his best, but I have a soft spot for Earthling.

Yes.

#1 Ziggy
#2 Hunky Dory
#3 Aladdin Sane
#4 Diamond Dogs

I don't care after that.

Thats just...wow. Never really watched much Bowie, but it's creative stuff to say the least.

\I remember a black & white video of him in Tin Machine that was pretty good, but damned if I can remember the song....

#4 needs to switch places with #2. Other than that, I'm fine.

His live shows were pretty amazing, though his set lists were really hit or miss. Like Neil Young, some tours he brings out all the songs we all love, other times it's some weird tangent. Visually, always interesting.

SilentStrider: I know its probably not his best, but I have a soft spot for Earthling.

Love that album. That was the only Bowie concert I will likely ever get to. There was a dude in a homemade tinfoil spacesuit boinging around on the main floor the entire two hours, finallly Bowie laughs and says "I'm NOT playing it."

2012-01-11 10:15:43 PM
Aladdin Sane and Low should rank much higher...hell I'd put Low in the top three. And no Station to Station?

No mention of Station to Station? Really?
Let's Dance should be an honorable mention at 10.
Low really isn't as good as people make it out to be. At least I never thought so.
I also thought Earthling was pretty good, but I seem to be in the minority on that.

10. Young Americans

Too bad there was no mention of Stevie Ray Vaughan in the write-up for Let's Dance. He really added a nice flare to it.

2012-01-11 10:34:25 PM
1. RIAF of Ziggy Stardust
2. Honky Dory
3. Diamond Dogs
4. Aladdin Sane
5. Reality
6. Heathen
7. The Man Who Sold The World
8. Low
9. Heroes
10. Station To Station

I'd say Hunky Dory's my favorite of his studio albums. But of all his discography, including compilations and whatnot, the first disc of Bowie at the Beeb is probably my favorite.

Which increadibly similar and nearly simultaneous song is better?
Bowie's "The Jean Genie" or Sweet's "Blockbuster"

If Heathen was "his best work of the last three decades", then why is Let's Dance ranked eight spots higher?

AFAIC, I could do without most of the Bowie I already have beyond Hunky Dory, Ziggy Stardust and 1969-1993.

No Station to Station?

Glad to see Low on there

No love for Pin Ups?

I've always had a soft spot (top-o-my-head) for the B-side of Heroes. I was usually pretty stoned when that album came out, so that might have something to do with it.

But, Subby, how can anyone fail so hard? Nothing tops Ziggy. Nothing.

The great thing is that while Bowie looked like a hipster, dressed like a hipster, he wrote great music, and did not judge, so he wrote a song for elvis, they sang it together, and it worked out.

2012-01-11 11:13:57 PM
I'm sure they did but that's not them singing it.

It works if you count the three decades as the 1990s, the 2000s and the 2010s.

2011-forward
2001-2010
1991-2000

do you have the third disc? One of my favorite albums of all time, in terms of miles on my car stereo.

Evil Kirk vs Bad Ash: Bowie singing Comfortable Numb with David Gilmour always gives me a happy.

this

Also, Lets Dance can bite my ass, and StationToStation needs to be on here.

What the fark am I reading?

Let's Dance as his second best album? No mention at all of Station to Station?

Someone bring me this idiot's head.

5. Aladdin Sane
4. Station to Station
3. Low
2. Heroes
1. Ziggy Stardust

I think he also sang a cover of "Arnold Lane" in concert w/ Gilmour.

Not better, but first. (new window)

btw, subby and the author are on crack (city). Bowie's never made a bad album, imho, but Let's Dance anywhere near the top 10 with Diamond Dogs, Lodger, Pin Ups, and Station To Station nowhere to be found? Nonsense... even Black Tie White Noise blows Let's Dance off the list.

I'd even rather listen to Never Let Me Down than Let's Dance these days.

If the guy in red had just been Iggy Pop we would have had an early "Venture Brothers" video.

Klaus Nomi was amazing.

I was gonna say. I'm not a big time Bowie fan, but I always liked that album.

/Just haven't listened to enough of his music.

Hard to argue with #1, but Let's Dance even in the same solar system as Hunky Dory, Aladdin Sane or Station to Station? Hahahahahaha, no. Young Americans at #3? That's trolling, pure and simple. I'd have had Earthling in there somewhere, and while not a Top 10 choice, I really like Outside too.

Labyrinth

Yeah it may be a soundtrack, but I love it. It has stayed with me since the release.
Look at me...I'm not hip and admit to what I like...
My 3 year old daughter loves it too.

"Let's Dance" gets pissed on because it was popular.

I agree with subby - I'd place it in the first spot too - really strong musically, surprisingly well written and, well; you can dance to it.
