Oh no! A library will be funded and some kids will be able to go to college! What a monster!

For every kid Jerry Sandusky allegedly raped, there are hundreds his organization helped.
People need to do a better job assessing the risk vs benefit of what actually happened.

Sorry. It's not like he was balls deep in a 10yo EVERY day.
And, JoePa is old and feels bad about it. Plus, he told his boss once 10 years ago.
Also, how could he possibly know what Sandusky did? I mean, it's not like he was caught multiple times in the locker room or previously investigated by cops or had multiple allegations against him over the course of a decade.
I just want to know what JoePa and the graduate assistant thought every time they saw a new kid at Penn State practices. "Hey kid, welcome to Penn State."

It's a new year and I feel bad about wishing death on Paterno, so let me be more clear: I would not shed a tear if he keels over tomorrow. There, I'm not actively rooting for his death, just noting the non-impact it would have on me.
Now, let's talk Penn State, as well as the state of Pennsylvania. PSU alumni and former players are LIVID over the hiring of an outsider as head football coach. Some, like Lavar Arrington, vow to have nothing to do with PSU from here on out. They're outraged...WAY more outraged than they were to discover that their beloved coach had been allowing a child rapist to roam free on the campus.
Plus PA is responsible for Rapey Ben, The Flyers fan who assaulted a Rangers fan and then bragged about it on Facebook, and Rick Santorum.
Now, more than ever, the entire state deserves to be napalmed.

Less sweeping umder the carpet and denial more transparency and attempts to make sure it doesnt keep happening.
Tearing down the football program and starting from scratch with different goals and objective outside oversight would be an excellent start.

That's right, which is why Joe Paterno isn't facing any charges. That doesn't mean he did everything he could and SHOULD have done.
And by the way, "rage" level has nothing to do with sentencing. The facts will be presented, Sandusky will most-likely be convicted, and his sentence will be rendered accordingly.

There is a zero percent chance that happens, and is total nonsense. For one thing, the State of Pennsylvania didn't conduct a 3-year grand jury investigation to get a plea bargain. For another, there are SEVERAL counts, and there isn't much Sandusky could plea to that would reduce his sentence enough to make a difference for a man in his 60s.

This argument has been thrown out by people in these threads consistently. When you can't minimize anymore, you indict those calling JoePa a scumbag for not rightfully admonishing Sandusky. It is idiotic. And, quite simplistic when looking at the situation.
It implies that a) people are incapable of holding multiple people responsible to varying degrees and b) that people haven't already condemned Sandusky viciously and repeatedly.
The reason there is no discussion on Sandusky is because nobody is in disagreement. There is not one single person that has posted in any of these threads that has waivers from the idea that Sandusky is a vile human that deserves a very long prison sentence. That's the end of the conversation.
There are, however, dozens of people that have spent months deflecting blame from JoePa and minimizing his impact as though his status on campus didn't exist for the past 50 years.
What in the hell are people going to discuss about Sandusky on Fark? The first person says "I hope he spends many years in prison with Bubba" and then 5 dozen people agree with him.
List of things people say to deflect blame from JoePa:
- He's been a stand-up figure for his entire life and made one mistake
- He told his boss right away. That was his responsibility and he fulfilled it.
- Good lord, he's already been fired. What more do you want?
- How is he supposed to know all of the other stuff happened?
- Nobody is condemning Sandusky. JoePa is the real victim here. He is being wrongly demonized.
Next up....
- He's already stated that he regrets his inaction. Nothing can be done now to make it better or erase what happened.
