For as much as I have fallen out of love with The Foo Fighters, Dave Grohl drummed on the album Songs For The Deaf, which pretty much gives him a pass no matter what he does.

The Foo Fighters? They write memorable music, play it well, and their videos and contract riders prove that they're decent, normal, down-to-earth guys with a functioning collective sense of humor.
So, screw you. I like 'em.

As varying as their albums have been for me (Wasting Light was awesome!) I have always counted them as one of my favorite bands and one of the top 5 bands I have seen live.

I saw Foo Fighters at Hang Out Fest last year. They were playing the same stage as Cee Lo Green (I pronounce 'Cee Lo' fat flavor-of-the-month). Anyway to make long story into a CSB, Green had forgotten about the Hang Out gig and was accepting some award out west (King Douche Nozzle I think). Concert promoters went to Foo Fighters and asked them if they would take Cee Lo's spot. Without batting an eye, Grohl says "Yeah, sure...for Cee Lo's money." Foo Fighters walk on stage 'splain the situation to the crowd, "Cee Lo Green is running late. We'll be doing our set list in it's entirety a little later. The promoters have asked us to take his spot. We'll be doing a few tunes we sometimes like to play at our shows, so think of us tonight like you would a cover band at a wedding. Hope ya'll dont mind." Then for the next hour they bust out every cool cover you've EVER heard at a Foo Fighter's show. Grohl kicks off his shoes and goes down to the beach and sings and mingles with the crowd. He also climbs stuff. Songs by Santana, Beatles, Stones, Black Crows all belted out Foo style and they had the audience jumping! They do not suck by a long shot. Maroon 5? Now they suck.

I think ppl like the Foo Fighters for the same reasons they like AC/DC; the music is uncomplicated, basic, stripped-down rock n' roll, and they don't try to go out of their element. I don't need all the experimentation and "concepts"; leave that to Radiohead, and let me play air drums to "My Hero".

Dave Grohl sold Kurt Cobain's soul for the ultimate rock life. He can just call up Tony Iommi and jam if he wants. He can sub for just about any rock group on the planet, save Rush, and farking Zep was okay with him doing some of John's stuff with them.
It really doesn't matter at all what any of us think of him, the man has more connections in rock music than anyone. And I hear he's a super nice guy to his fans.

That sounds awesome. I'd rather see that then see them playing their own stuff to be honest. I really cooled on them around the time The Pretender was released as a single.

The article has misquoted the band, he said they think they suck not that they do suck.
C'mon, easily one of the best bands, if not the only band, to come out of the grunge movement in music.
I love the Foo. One of my favorite bands. Yes, I put them up there with CCR.

My CSB: Went to my first FF concert last summer. Motorhead was supposed to open, but because of bad weather their flight was cancelled. Dave Grohl came out, explained that Motorhead wasn't going to make it, and said they would extend their own set 'a bit'. They played 3 1/2 solid hours, and still left the fans wanting more. They could have played all night and it still would not have been enough. The write up in the paper the next day said that the Foo Fighters showed what a rock concert was supposed to be. I am now really sorry that I did not go the other times that they came to my area. CSB off.

I don't listen to them, I couldn't name a song by them, but I've never heard a word that didn't indicate they were all surprisingly cool, decent people. Maybe I should give 'em a listen - god knows I could use a 'new' band to follow and enjoy.

Love Dave forever because of what he did with Nirvana. I mean, just an awesome drummer, the best -- particularly on In Utero.
And hey, I really liked that first Foo Fighters album, and Everlong is an all time classic, one of the best rock songs ever written in my opinion.
Ever since then?
Well...I'll be nice.
Good luck Dave.

Don't worry too much about the Alive and Well stuff. It seemed to be a cause that Nate Mendel (the bassist) was into, and Dave kinda helped him out a little without knowing the facts of the situation. It's worth mentioning that Alive And Well has not been a link on The Foo Fighters webpage under "causes" since around 2008. I figure maybe he read the facts of the situation and backed away from them.

Dave kicks ass. He's either master of the art of appearing humble or he is one of the most humble of the "successful" musicians.
I wouldn't say they are excessively talented with their instruments vocals (though I really like Dave's voice when he's NOT screaming), but they get what they need out of them. This band is all heart.
/btw, the inch of tape in the Wasting Light CD was a cool idea.
