I can vaguely remember "scientists" saying that kids are going to die from video games. Probably the same thing when TV came out too. Other than the occasional douchebag getting beaten to death by his own iPad or phone for being as asshole, I think think humanity will survive.

This de Quervains (?) tendonosynovitis (sp?) is no fun at all. You'll need a lower arm brace and moving the thumb induces an awful wrist pain and the sawbones will wonder why you're spending all day lifting up infants and prematurely suggest surgery. Be good to yourself people.

The benefit of touchscreens is that i will actually help reduce the thumb injuries because you can use any digit (or even a stylus) to make the motions. Using one of the older phones like the original Blackberry basically forced use of the thumbs to type because of the placement and sensitivity of the keys.

The potential for injury from using touchscreens will only go up as more people use smartphones and tablets, especially if Microsoft's Windows 8 effort succeeds in popularizing touchscreen PCs and laptops.

Apparently only the MS ones. They will make it popular.
