I love the stuff AMC puts out, but this thing just has me scratching my head wondering why in the fark anyone out there felt the need to do this. I can't really think of a movie-based series that ran successfully. There's been a bunch, but they've all failed.

Why? Because Fark you, gimme the money. There's several of these spinoffs coming this year.

With The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire, all made by the same people, isn't the story of the mob pretty much covered?

Henry Hill, the early days.
Henry Hill, the lost years.

Henry Hill: the older, wiser... no, continuation of the cocaine years.

I can't hear the end of the Stargate spinoffs.

And seriously, the movie note for note captured everything you needed or wanted to know about the Lucchese crime family. I read the book Wiseguy and Scorsese pretty well nailed it.

...Star Wars" The Clone Wars. Animated but still. And there's a live action show coming up.

I think the film captures it all. Not a fan of voice over, but it carries it off. I really doubt a series could come close.

I think the movie covered everything we need to know unless we're gonna see Tommy shine shoes and more cigarette selling. We might even see Henry live his life like a shnook

I did it MYYYYYY WAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

The other problem this might have and I don't want to discourage anyone else's work but isn't Joe Pesci and to a lesser extent Robert DeNiro's character going to be a little hard to follow?

/theyr'e also making a Hannibal Lecter series, BTW

I guess I'm the only one excited about this. AMC never disappoints, and I've been missing mafioso shiat on tv. It's not exactly an original idea, but as long as it's not a reality show about pawn stores, swamps, storage units, towing, etc I'm all for it.

I'm guessing it'll have a great first season, drawing in a few million people. Then it'll have the budget cut in half and season 2 will be shot entirely inside Henry's bathroom where they debate on flushing down the coke.

Between Inside the DHS and Comic Book Men AMC is starting to suffer from network decay as well.

No, no, no.You're doing it wrong. This is Fark. There's no "I stand corrected" here. Stick with your original assertion and declare that each and every one of those examples are overrated pieces of shiat.

Henry Hill's life is pretty interesting and there is a lot more to his life to tell. I would rather see Sammy the Bull's life made into a series.

That is one of my favorite You Tube fan videos. This is another despite the bad quality. (pops)

It could probably be a good show, but...

"Goodfellas" told the ENTIRE STORY. There's nothing left to say. And, of course, "Goodfellas" is one of the greatest movies ever made, and there is no possible way to improve on it.

2012-01-11 05:58:47 PM
I love Goodfellas. It's probably in my top five favorite movies of all time. A TV series though? There's so much that makes the movie great it'll just make the show look that much worse.

As is they already tried a TV movie about the Lufthansa job (The Big Heist, think it was A&E though) and Donald Sutherland couldn't even come close to following Bobby's performance as Jimmy the Gent.

What in the special hell are they thinking? Aside from the "fark you, pay me."

What is this mob crap?

Isn't there a comic book super hero show we can reboot or something?

What are you still doing here, Subby? I thought I told you to go f*ck your mother.

2012-01-11 06:05:52 PM
To maintain the integrity of the movie, it's vitally important that MORRIE'S WIGS DON'T COME OFF!!!

Even underwater!

Top five for me as well, maybe even the top. And I can't wait to watch this series. I don't think it will be as great as the movie, but even if it is 1/100th as good, it will be better than most of the dreck on TV nowadays.

And it shouldn't even rape your childhood, because Goodfellas wasn't made for children!

Whoa, subby, you broke your cherry!

My favorite spoof - "Techfellas."

2012-01-11 06:29:01 PM
So, after they renew it, the next season will be spent in the club while we wonder for three episodes what's in the trunk?

2012-01-11 06:37:57 PM
TFA doesn't say that the series gets capped in the back of the head the same day it gets made

I'd like to see the Star Trek franchise head off into the miniseries land. Think of some stories that would be great for a miniseries but not enough legs for a whole series. You could merch the fark out of it and it could keep the franchise afloat until the next JJ movie.

2012-01-11 06:55:51 PM
Sybarite: Alice,

Which was also based off a Martin Scorsese film...
