Eh, it's only bad if define "morals" as sex. You know... if you're Rick Santorum.

2012-01-11 12:41:26 PM
Sounds like she's a Republican.

2012-01-11 12:53:04 PM
Not to mention the fact that the allegations that her longtime close girlfriend and assitant has lived with her and her husband in what is widely whispered to be an "open marriage" arrangement for years.

2012-01-11 12:54:13 PM
No chance she's talking about greed and avarice.

Nope, must be boobs.

2012-01-11 12:55:23 PM
Shame about her accordian playing career.

2012-01-11 12:56:23 PM
You suck, Submitter.

I don't know shiat about her politics, and I don't really care. She is self-deprecating and confident enough in her own ability to acknowledge the role her ginormous boobs played in getting her noticed, but when you imply that's her only asset... damn you suck.

Dolly Parton is one of America's great song writers. And I am not even a fan. And you are an idiot.

And then there's the headline:

Spelled correctly in the story. Good one, Fox; got one of those morning morans doing double duty these days? Or maybe there is a shortage of school administrators....

Damn Hollywood elitists talking down to America.

Dolly is a very shrewd businesswoman and an avid philanthropist. I admire her, even though I am not a fan of the music.

From wikipedia:

"Dolly Parton's Imagination Library",[55] a part of the Dollywood Foundation, mails one book per month to each enrolled child from the time of their birth until they enter kindergarten.

It began in Sevier County TN but has now been replicated in 566 counties across 36 U.S. states (as well as in Canada[56]). In December 2007 it expanded to Europe with the South Yorkshire town of Rotherham, United Kingdom, being the first British locality to receive the books. The program distributes more than 2.5 million free books to children annually.

My grandmother knew Dolly Parton when she was a child and later long after she had become famous, they crossed paths again, and she was very down to earth and treated my grandmother very well. I'm not a big fan of her music or anything, but Dolly Parton is good people if you bother to ask anyone who has had the pleasure to know her or anyone in the eastern Tennessee communities, submitter. You should be ashamed of yourself.

She openly admits she used her tits to get her foot in the door in Nashville, and back in the day she heard the same things said about her. So her going on Fox where they will use her statements as part of their continuing quest to paint everyone that's not a conservative as part of the godless plot to destroy America doen't make her at least a little bit of hypocrite?

What a monster this woman is!

BURN HER!

She's reportedly very warm and genuine and grounded.

Maybe she follows the morals of the Biblical Jesus instead of Supply Side Fark Yeah American Jesus. Just because you have faith and moral compass doesn't mean you're an ignorant fundie.

2012-01-11 01:18:19 PM
From what I understand, Dolly is just as polite and engaging in real life as she is when she is "on." I have never met her, but I know a couple people who have.

2012-01-11 01:24:10 PM
She seems like a warm mothering-like down-to-earth person. I'd love to sit down on a front porch and sip ice-tea with her - and those ginormous tits.

I think she was going on Fox to promote her movie to a demographic who knows and appreciates who she is. And if someone perceives a vanilla statement like this:

People are looking for something a little more stable; people are feeling like they need to get closer to God. So (the movie has) got a lot of heart, a lot of soul. It's about community, it's about pulling together and it's about believing in something bigger and better than you."

As some kind of Talibangelical call to arms, that's frankly a personal issue. It sounds like the bizarro-version of Ozzy inspiring Satan worship.

"She's talking about stability, community, and a personal relationship with God! How could I not steal a Prius, put a bunch of liberals and abortionists in the trunk and drive it in a lake?"

2012-01-11 01:28:20 PM
And I acknowledged she used her tits to get her in the door. She admits it. She jokes about it. I don't think that's hypocritical at all.

2012-01-11 01:34:17 PM
I think she's right. Although we probably disagree on the nature of the atrophy.

2012-01-11 01:42:27 PM
This thread seems to be filled with people who fall into the category of, "Not a fan, but she seems like an awesome, self-aware person, and I've never heard anything but good things about her."

So, I guess you can add me to that list.

2012-01-11 02:47:46 PM
I like how "christians" think morals are all about sex, particularly when most christians I know have no problem with greed, hypocrisy, etc... you know -- the things Christ actually railed against.

She supports marriage equality, so yeah I don't think she's down with the fundies.

I'm a huge Dolly Parton fan, she's talented and smart and a really nice down to Earth person.

I saw the trailer for hers and Queen Latvia's movie and tried to pry my armrest off so I could beat myself to death with it. But I'm sure she's very talented with her audience. Whatever that is.

Have those boobies ever been exposed in public, my god there was a day when I would suffocate in those things till I passed out.

\That day was yesterday and this morning and now.

Doesn't everyone do this once they reach a certain age?

2012-01-11 03:59:33 PM
I guess Stubby has never heard her sing "Jolene." I don't care who you are, that's GOOD music.

Mugato: Queen Latvia's

Queen Valentina has a trailer?! bwahahahahaha! (new window)

Subby, fark you. Seriously.

The rack and the wigs and the "aw, shucks" persona are just window dressing. Underneath it all, Dolly Parton is a phenomenally talented musician, and a criminally underrated songwriter. I don't much care for her acting or her ventures into pop music, but her pure country and bluegrass music is right up there with the best ever recorded.

2012-01-11 04:01:04 PM
She's down to earth, she's loving and nonjudgmental, she has a refreshingly healthy view on sexuality in a world that's crazy into slutshaming, she has wealth that she busted her ASS to burn, she uses said wealth in positive ways, and yes, even with the hyperfeminine, unrealistic appearance, she's still a feminist role model. And a better Christian than pretty much any Christian I've met IRL.

Yeah, clearly we need to burn her at the stake. *eyeroll*

2012-01-11 04:01:07 PM
Dolly, I agree! What happened to the good old days where you could drop an N bomb and no one would bat an eye?!?!?! MORALS DERP JIHAD!

2012-01-11 04:02:04 PM
Haven't people been saying this exact statement since time began?

Agreed. She may be a great gal to hang out with, and I would probably enjoy doing so.

As long as I didn't have to watch her movie.

Dr. Venture: Lab shmab, I'm finished with work for today. No, I wanted the boys away because I made a discovery of the... non-scientific kind.
Brock: What'd you find? Are you okay?
Dr. Venture: Oh, I'm more than okay. While perusing TV guide, I found a little - shall I say - flick, starring a one miss Dolly Parton, meow. Yeah, it seems she made a racy film called The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.
Brock: Yeah, Doc, you're uh... gonna be disappointed there...
Dr. Venture: Don't ruin it for me. I have popcorn popping and the VCR set for stun! You wanna watch it with me?
Brock: Nah, I'm cool. I gotta drive the boys to dinner.
Dr. Venture: Oh, I get it! Yeah, those kind of films are meant to be watched solo a mano.
Brock: Yeah, that's it.

And she is telling us about morals, because she is a moral authority. fark that stupid whore.

Dolly Parton killed my dog.

2012-01-11 04:06:56 PM
During an interview with Dolly Parton, in reference to her large bust, she said, "People are always asking if they're real and ... I'll tell you what, these are mine." (Johnny) Carson replied, "I have certain guidelines on this show. But I would give about a year's pay to peek under there."

Does the phrase "Joyful Noise" just irritate the hell out of anyone but me? A noise is an undesirable sound, and there's nothing joyful about it.

Dolly Parton. Philanthropist and philosopher.

2012-01-11 04:13:57 PM
It's not immoral to have a huge rack.

But it helps.

2012-01-11 04:15:37 PM
coeyagi: And she is telling us about morals, because she is a moral authority she has just as much right to express her opinion as any other American, and the rest of us are free to pay attention or not.

I'm trying to come up with another niche artistic endeavor that she could excel at which would also have no bearing on her being famous for her boobs then scolding America for looking.

Model train building? Scrap-booking? My Little Pony photoshops? Ah!

Harry Potter Filk.
