The Polish military prosecutor who shot himself in the head on Monday just moments after cutting short a press conference claims he had a US$782,000 contract on his head.

maybe i'm wrong, but i don't think you can collect the money yourself if you commit suicide

What a good shot, man.

I know the reference but this was not a very good shot if he's leaving the hospital in a couple of days.

Fun fact! Stalin's son tried to commit suicide, but failed. Stalin didn't like his son very much, and made fun of him to others saying he couldn't even do that right.

Personally, one would think a civilian based investigation would be better.

Civilians (at least in some countries) are not held accountable to the military and therefore can act independently without fear of retribution.

Something weird happening here, although as a former Soviet state, is that really surprising?

True. If you're going to headshot yourself, the barrel goes under your jaw or in your mouth pointing up.

Came here to say exactly this, in the form of "hey man, nice shot"

What a Polock, he can't even shoot himself in the head right.

Reportedly, he DID eventually get that one right. Link (new window)

my assumption is, this wasnt a real suicide attempt. Theres not much info about where he shot himself. But he probably is smart enough to know what will kill you and what wont. I think maybe he is just trying to draw attention to the issue at hand. not that i have any idea what it is.

So....Good job.

I dont get the reference, but in reality you don't get paid if the body isn't identifiable. You could just kill anyone and say you did the job.

I read somewhere he had shot himself through the cheek, badly damaging facial tissue, his upper jaw bone, and causing skull splintering. I'm guessing he wanted to survive it. Any shot to the head is likely to cause some fairly debilitating injuries, even if it isn't fatal. I hope he like soup and Sesame street, cuz that's his future.

It's a reference to Fallout: New Vegas, in which you are assigned to kill 3 gang leaders. They pay you less if you gib the head, because as you said you could just go kill anyone and bring in a corpse.

/plus they want the guys dead for morale purposes, and bringing in a messy unidentifiable skull and saying, "this is probably the guy who raped and tortured your buddies" isn't as effective

I should also note that I believe it's the only time in F:NV that anyone cares if the face gets shot. Which is sort of strange considering how often you're requested to kill somebody.

/and one of the guys comes at you with, I swear to god, a farking golf club

Ahhh Nephi's Driver. Nothing like watching a perfect swing decapitate a super mutant. *PING!*

Agreed it was weird they required NO headshots for that mission (made especially hard by Bloody Mess perk, considering you could accidentally gib em with a single shot to the foot and screw yourself).

It's further east than East Germany. Okay, it wasn't in the Soviet Union proper, but it was definitely in the Warsaw Pact.

Yeah I knew what you meant.

But as long as they were communists and had their own army in the block, I doubt the Soviet Union interfered with their everyday policies at all.

Straying from being communist and a shiat load of bricks would fall down however (see Hungary 1956).

What I want to know is how do you calculate 1 mln PLN to equal $800,000!?

It's more like $285,000 at the current exchange rate.
