I can totally see Mossad doing this. Americans know everyone is looking at them over the Straights of Hormuz. We wouldn't do anything this obvious right now (or I hope we would not be so stupid). But the Israelis are just crazy enough.

"Several Iranian nuclear scientists have been assassinated in recent years, with Iran blaming Israel and the US. .....He called the killing 'evidence of [foreign] government-sponsored terrorism'".
It's not terrorism when
we
do it, jackass. Terrorists are brown Muslim people. White Christians and/or Jews are called Freedom Fighters.

So ... who gets to make the final determination on that? Honest question, I know it's a horrible picture to imagine, but at the same time they are actually a sovereign country ...
Could Canada or Mexico reasonably attack the United States using that same line of reasoning if in some unforseen conflict down the road, the international community deems us a threat to the world?

Most of the Middle East and SW Asia sees Israel as a proxy for the US. They wouldn't do shiat like this if it wasn't in some way approved by Washington. Not sure how Obama will react to this. He doesn't have a hard-on for Israel like the fundies in the GOP do.

Israel and Mossad do a lot of shiat not approved by Washington, but we keep sending them money and guns so everyone assumes they have our approval.

Murdering academics is not heroic. It's terrorism.
And a tactic that Israel has tried before at home with disastrous results. In the early days of the "infatada" Israel made no distinction between militant leaders and leaders calling for civil, non-violent protests, who were by and large academics and professors.
The academics proved softer targets than the militants and were quickly wiped out. Leaving the militants in charge, where they have remainined for the last two decades

And so the Iranian brain drain continues, diluting the intelligence of the regular Iranians and decreasing the possibility that anyone smart and successful will be around to overthrow the theocratic dictatorship. Gee, thanks either theocratic Israel or near theocratic Us.

Mass ground invasion? Occupational war? Carpet bombing? Chemical attack? Biological attack? Nuclear attack? These are ok with you if the the US or another country uses them to stop the development of a nuclear device? You already seem ok with assassination, so lets see how far it goes.
