Nothing worse than how the media will help Republicans go after the wives of Democrats. It happened to Kitty Dukakis, Hillary Clinton, and Michelle Obama. And it's quite deliberate, classic Atwater style of rumor mongering.

So you already forgot the whole Laura bush killed a man story? Likewise, democrat wives attempt to interjected into their husbands work more and act like they were the ones elected: see hillarycare and the new book out on Michelle. Did either bush wife attempt to act as if they were the ones elected?

Nah, she's probably tired of that, too. But she knows if she mentions it, she'll be tagged with the "whiny b*tch" stereotype. Because when it comes to first ladies, trafficking in stereotypes is the only kind of trafficking.

I think that's the media stereotype for all black women - angry. White girls are blessed with a variety of stereotypes - dumb, pretentious, man-hater, gold-digger.

What I'm saying is, at least if you're white you get to choose the type of stereotype you'd like to be. If you're black, the media only gives you one type.

You mean, the story spread by...Family Guy? Yeah, I guess Peter and Lois do need to be more neutral in these elections. They're powerful players and they shouldn't be trying to influence Americans by telling them that Laura Bush killed a guy.

When it comes to attacking First Ladies, no party is immune. Remember all the negative press Nancy Reagan got for her designer clothes or buying china for the White House? Despite the fact that she used her own money for her clothes and the china was purchased with private donations.

That could also be because outside of political affiliation, the last two Democratic First Ladies had a substantial pet cause. Laura had "don't join gangs" (which was super halfass from the get-go) and no one remembers what Barbara did.

Everyone remembers Nancy and drugs, Betty and drinking/pills, and Lady Bird and littering. No one remembers what Rosylynn Carter did either.

What I'm saying is, maybe this is more about those particular women and less about whose team they happen to be on.

Yeah, she always comes across as a really smart, nice person. What possible reason could anyone have not to like someone like that? I'm sure partisanship, sexism, or racism couldn't have anything to do with it.

Entire article:

WASHINGTON (AP) - First lady Michelle Obama is challenging assertions she's forcefully imposed her will on White House aides, saying she's tired of people portraying her as "some kind of angry black woman."

Mrs. Obama tells CBS News she hasn't read New York Times reporter Jodi Kantor's new book, which characterizes her as a behind-the-scenes force in the Executive Mansion whose strong views often draw her into conflict with President Barack Obama's top advisers.

She says she cares deeply about her husband and that is "one of his biggest confidants." But Mrs. Obama also says she doesn't read books about "other people's impressions of people."

Asked specifically about an assertion of dissension between herself and then-chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, she says she's has "never had a cross word" with him.

Believe me, you don't want white people to think you're Furious Styles if you work in an office and you're sending an urgent e-mail to a colleague informing them that they did not follow company policy. Had a guy cry to the CFO that I was "yelling at him" in an e-mail. I didn't even use caps. Smh.

Hmm. Didn't consider that. I suppose scaring the hell out of white people does have its drawbacks.
