Looking at the schedule, I hadn't realized the Giants have played 3 of the 4 teams left in the AFC in a Super Bowl.

Super Bowls are rarely a show of a QB's prowess. It is rare for a super bowl qb to have 300 yards and/or 2 tds.

Oh I remember it vividly. I guess they did count that touchdown dive where the ball never crossed the plane.

Blue rare.
But only a dozen or so qbs have hit 300 yards in the super bowl.

So 1 out of 4 Superbowls has one

Whereas every other game this season had one.
It's supposed to be the best teams matching up, and generally they are there because they have amazing quarterbacks.

There have been 90 opportunities for QBs to reach these stats.

There have been 18 times that a QB threw 300 or more yards in the Super Bowl, so a 20% success rate.

There have been 33 times that a QB threw 2 or more touchdowns, so a 36.7% success rate.

I wouldn't say either is rare, but they are definitely not the expected outcome.

Of course, none of those came after the 2011 season.

If this year's Super Bowl involves the Patriots against either the Packers or the Saints, or even the Giants, you can bet there will be 700+ total passing yards in the game between the two teams.

There are 2 quarterbacks per Superbowl though. Only one would need to throw for 200 yards for any Superbowl to have one.

43 Super Bowls and 18 times with a quarterback over 300 yards. That is better than a 1 in 3 chance. 1 in 3 isnt exactly rare.

The super bowl isn't jay cutler vs. carson palmer. It's Rodgers vs Big Ben. It's Brees vs P Manning. etc.

So you are saying that two AFC teams cant play in the Super Bowl?

Stop the presses!

You realize Cutler was traded to the Bears a few years ago, right? Now the Broncos have this other guy at QB.

I agree it isn't rare. Accounting for doubling up in the same Super Bowl, 16 of the 45 Super Bowls have had at least 1 300-yard passer. 25 of 45 Super Bowls have seen at least 1 2-touchdown passer.

Quarterbacks who throw for 300 yards are 10-8. 2 of those 8 losses came to another QB who threw at least 300 yards.

Quarterbacks who throw for at least 2 touchdowns are 22-11. 8 of those 11 losses came to another QB who threw at least 2 touchdowns.

3 touchdowns gets you a record of 10-5. Throw for 4, and you are 5-0.

While everyone has been fawning over Brees, Brady, and Rodgers, Eli has quietly been racking up good stats. I think he was just shy or right at 5k for the regular season.

I'm a Giants fan this week! Hey, it could happen with a decent pass rush. Their 2007 version trolled the sh*t out a nearly perfect Pats team, remember?

Yeah everyone wishes that ben had beat tebow but it didn't happen and yes tebow is a good QB so people should just let him play football and stop worrying about his religion.
