Well, imagine that you were hoping to start a farm with promised dowry, but all you get is 3-legged goat and 'magic beans'. Still, you're a good son, so you go ahead and marry this woman, sight-unseen. Imagine your disappointment in pops, when you finally lift that veil and find bugs bunny ugly underneath. The final straw is 2 hours into the marriage and she starts biatchin' like she's coming off a two day Oprah marathon. Then she tells you to "make your own Ishvaras-damned naan sandwich".

I'm leaning toward the murder-suicide angle myself, especially since the newly-married husband finding out his arranged wife is not so pure would definitely be a button. Even more of a button would be if she continued to not be pure, if you catch the drift.
