It's not a repeat because AL Davis didn't do the firing.

Mackenzie is cleaning house.

I hate seeing yet another coaching change for the Raiders, but this is needed.

The team has a new GM, and is in their first year without Al. Gut the team. Get rid of everyone from the old regime and start fresh. You can just plug in a new DC and hope everything finally clicks. People rag on the Raiders organization for constantly having problems with management, this was the only option. Want to get away from the Al Davis (later)years? Get rid of the Al Davis people.

Luckily the raiders have a solid group of young talent, which should help ease the transition, just need to figure out that QB problem (I vote for a healthy Campbell).

Hue will make a great OC somewhere, hopefully in the NFC.

Sounds like Mackenzie's new coach will need to be signed before any other changes occur. He wants the new coach to be able to create (or at least have input on) his own staff.

Considering Jackson threw everyone he could get a hold of under the bus after the last game, I don't see how they really had a choice. If the Raiders can get their penalty problem under control, they would likely be a great team.

As for Jason Campbell, Seattle might need someone to replace Tavaris Jackson since the Redskins are likely going to get RGIII.

The Palmer trade was like me trying to unload a '94 Taurus with 200,000 miles for $25,000 and if it makes it more than 100 miles before breaking down the road you owe me another $25,000.

Jackson was basically Sonny Corleone. Took power when the old man died, made bad decisions and got what was coming to him. Now if McKenzie can put Palmer at the bottom of Lake Mead he should get a goddamn statue.

Carson, you're nothing to me now. You're not a brother, you're not a friend. I don't want to know you or what you do. I don't want to see you at the hotels, I don't want you near my house. When you see our mother, I want to know a day in advance, so I won't be there. You understand?

I was a little surprised by this, but not completely shocked. More at the timing I guess, they hadn't even officially announced their new GM and already this was hitting the news. I get the why I guess, but if they're going to clean house and get a fresh start, I hope they do it right.

Mark couldn't talk because he had a stripper under the table, as usual.
Reggie wasn't brought in to do daily press conferences and impress the world with his quick wit and elocution, he was brought in because of his football mind.

If Palmer was any indication of his skills as a GM, he'll never work again. If he stays to just the on-field stuff, he could do worse than to offer himself to Stephen Ross. Half the price of Fischer, none of the demands to bring in his own people to the front office.

Oh yeah, I liked when Reggie was asked if the Raiders payed too high a price for Carson.
Reggie is all like, "As a personnel guy, I like (to keep) my draft picks."
A subtle FU to GM Hue.

Nice, not that he has many bullets in the chamber for this year. The compensatory picks should help but a compensatory 3 for Nnamdi and at best two 4's for Miller and Gallery will at best give you some depth and project guys.

The part about it that really got me was that first round picks aren't running $40-50MM guaranteed anymore. Cam Newton is going for $25MM, almost as much as DHB has guaranteed. If they had traded 2 #1's this back in '06 and not picked what eventually became Huff/Russell for Palmer would any Raider fan have hated it?

konigsforst: and now they're talking about going back to LA?

One of the funniest parts of the ongoing drama. They can't go back to the L.A. Collisseum because it pretty much belongs to USC now. They can't go to the Rose Bowl because the neighborhood associations won't let them play sunday games. The football stadium downtown hasn't been built. The football stadium on the hill hasn't been built. The football stadium next to Dodger stadium hasn't been built. The football stadium in Irwindale hasn't been built.
Hmmmmmm . . . what's left? Santa Clara? Anyway, here is some eye candy -
