You didn't bring enough to drink home with you?

2012-01-10 07:29:00 PM
Personally, I'm amazed that none of y'all - not one - noticed that TFA defines binge drinking as having EIGHT DRINKS EACH TIME. So, y'all hardasses talking about how hard you are, drinking your piddly four drinks, need some goddam reading comprehension.

2012-01-10 07:29:41 PM
So, if you binge drink you earn more money? That's what the report concluded.

Smokey the Bare: This is old news for anyone in the Air Force (and possibly the military as a whole). I remember a few years ago they had the 0-0-1-3 campaign (or something like that).

0 underage drinking offenses
0 drinking and driving incidents
1 or fewer drinks an hour
3 drinks in a night

I swear to God I'm not making this up.

I remember that shiat too. I laughed in private the first time I saw it, then proceeded to preach it to my folks, because them's the rules.

NorCalLos: I "quit" binge drinking a year or so ago, and cut down from drinking high octane barleywines and such to pilsner. I drink damn near every night, but only a beer or two...maybe three if I'm feeling frisky.

This. When you get older and chill the f*ck out and realize that getting plastered every weekend isn't really helping you get anywhere in life, you knock it off.

/people near the poverty line aren't really helping themselves out with 8-9 drinks each weekend. Let's be REAL cheap and assume that's 30 bucks an outing...that's 120 bucks/month at least spent getting nothing.

No, you're wrong.

The definition is four drinks (for women) and five (for men).

Reading comprehension indeed.

Is this from the Onion?
4 1oz drinks is a binge and 4 of those is a problem?

By Fark standards I'm a teetotaller. But thats, like, any other Tuesday in the normal world.

If you get up and go to work the next day, and they let you stay in the office, you haven't been binge drinking.

This thread is going to be a good 'un, excuse me while I freshen this up.

I drink 4 drinks in the morning,
I drink 4 drinks at night,
I drink 4 drinks in the afternoon,
It makes me feel all right

/ though I prefer the sublime version

He drinks a whiskey drink
He drinks a vodka drink
He drinks a lager drink
He drinks a cider drink

I get knocked down
but I get up again
you're never going to keep me down

Rapmaster2000: According to the CDC, binge drinkers are at a higher risk for many health and social problems, including car accidents, violence, liver disease, certain cancers, heart disease, sexually transmitted diseases and unintended pregnancies.

The marketing for almost every product implies that the use of their product will get you laid. Only alcohol truly delivers on this claim.

Amen.

Maybe you just like to pee?

If I drank 10-14 of the beers I've been drinking lately (8%-10% Belgians, typically 750mL bottles), I'd be dead.

No, you're not the only--wait. I am an alcoholic. I just don't drink anymore.

A Fark Handle: Darth_Lukecash: When you call your relatives to make sure they are stocked with alcohol- it points to not being able to go without a few days. That is addiction. It's painfully obvious.
yeah, but there's addiction and then addiction. sure being a high functioning alcoholic is bad for your long-term health, but so are a lot of things folks are free to do (or not do) in america. on the other hand the folks that can't hold a job, blackout constantly, destroy relationships, and worse, have a form of addition that is more immediately destructive and should seek help immediately.

I don't have a problem with the functional alcoholics. If I could drink successfully, I probably still would.

I'm the laziest alcoholic in the world. Sometimes I'll drive by the liquor store and think to myself, "Gee, I'd really like a drink, but I don't feel like getting out of the car..." Meanwhile, the store is slowly passing by, and eventually I say, "Next time, definitely."

"Next time" eventually does come -- a few months later.

sure, why not...it has no adverse chronic side effects. of course the acute problems (not breathing) and behaviors related to addiction (disease, crime, etc) can be a little severe.

I drink every day. But I really start drinking when TEBOW is on the tube!

Then it's shots of Jamison or Fernet all around!

The only time I don't drink is at work, or when I'm sleeping. Or any day of the week before noon.

Everyone in this troll thread that thinks they know better can just go fark themselfs!

I've, more or less, stopped or tempered my drinking so that it's maybe 2 drinks at most maybe a few times a month. However, the weird thing is, I still have the compulsion to go out and buy liquor and drinks which I will take back to my apartment and not drink. By my count, I have something like 12 bottles of liquor (vodka, gin, brandy, scotch, rum, fenjiu) stored up in my apartment which I do not drink at all, except for the rare occasions where I am entertaining a visitor.

I've been going through about a fifth and a half of whisky per week, sometimes a bit more, for about as long as I've been old enough to get a hold of it. And totally cold turkey starting a month and a half ago.

I'm going right back to drinking once this ankle bracelet comes off. I didn't go through DTs, but I'm sure at this point that I really do function better with a little booze in me. It certainly worked better than all the pain killers and antidepressants that came before it. Cheaper, too.

Sobriety sucks.

Be careful you don't start making those hookers over drink in order to reduce your stock, you might end up like being the next Gilbert Paul Jordan.

I have no idea why your post reminded me of him... I need a drink.
