You can't make an omelet...

In German there's a phrase: "Mit gegangen, mit gehangen." Don't get rounded up with a bunch of terrorists and you'll be fine.

2012-01-10 02:18:32 PM
Maybe he should have thought about that before becoming a terrorist enemy freedom hating frenchman.

Sad tag? O.k. But you didn't have to eat your morning cereal reading that one of those dirka-dirks killed one of your kids or the soldier living down the street. Now go back to your regular scheduled Kardashians and Portlandia.

Giving a shiat about guilt or innocence or truth is for pansy-ass liberals.

Next time, if you don't want to be detained indefinitely on suspicion of being a terrorist, be born in the United States.

Neither did you. STFU and get back to work.

Just sing "....laaaaaaand of the fuh-reeeeeeeee!" louder and longer. Maybe you can convince yourselves it's true.

I love how they dropped the charges just before he finally got into court, so they wouldn't have present the evidence against him.

And by "love", I mean "I would love to cock-punch the asshole who invented that tactic."

Gitmo, the new internment camps.

Every generation has something to be ashamed of, Gitmo is ours.

The GOP probably should be outlawed for allowing their leadership to become a torture regime.

They should turn GITMO over to FEMA, so there would be at least one FEMA camp.

Yup. Doing absolutely nothing wrong but knowing a guy who thought about it totally justifies seven years of unlawful detention in a gulag.

Giving a shiat about guilt or innocence or truth is for pansy-ass liberals.

The same "pansy-ass liberals" who will be voting for the Warden of Guantanamo come election day? The homophobic Warden of Guantanamo Bay?

Pansy-ass liberals care about their team winning. Barak could gas every kid in Cuba and- as long as he keeps the proper letter next to his name- his party, and the "liberals" in it, will support him.

Yeah, it would be much more just to have just hit his car with a hellfire missile launched from a predator.

I can't wait for the time when hippy liberals stop whining about Gitmo. It beats secret CIA prisons, and it beats having these arses on US soil.

2012-01-10 02:24:15 PM
Well maybe you shouldn't have been a terrorist, then.

2012-01-10 02:24:58 PM
A corrective before the Obama-über-alles apologists show up:

Obama only wanted to close the literal Guantanamo facility. The plan was to ship Gitmo prisoners to a location within the continental US. Congress blocked funding of this move. Obama has no compunction about locking people away for years without charges or access to the legal system.

It's called guilt by association. They must have had something on him...or evidence that he was planning something.
I do note that he doesn't exactly deny terrorist leanings or involvement, he only states he "wasn't planning on blowing up THAT embassy" or something to that effect.

There's an administrative process. It may not be a trial, but you don't get on the list for no reason.

More what? Deadly? Yes I agree. We shouldn't kill or imprison innocent men. At least with a hellfire missile you can say it was an impulse mistake. Seven years of knowing that you're dead wrong and keeping the facade going is on another level.

You're exactly what's wrong with this country. You've assumed that because they've been arrested and detained in gitmo they must actually be guilty of something.

It wasn't cold, and the Gulag was way worse. Just read Solzenitsyn (I know - a NAZI apologist) and tell me Gitmo is even close.

It's cool, Obama is closing it once he becomes president.

More just

Like our current system. Obama has skirted around the GTMO issue by just having people killed.

Bush did too, but Obama has stepped up the practice.

Then prove it, prove it in court like the system of justice we have cherished in our country up until now use to require before throwing somebody in prison.

FTA: About 90 prisoners have been cleared for transfer out of Guantánamo. Some of them are from countries like Syria or China - where they would face torture if sent home - or Yemen, which the United States considers unstable.

I can't wait until you are staring an angry cop in the face while being held incommunicado and being told that you are not a citizen (since you have threatened some pol or other) and thus don't have any rights.

An administrative process held in secret, with no rules of evidence, no chance of repudiation and no meaningful way to address what happens when it gets things obviously wrong. At least the German Jews knew who they were.

Better fascism than communism. A fascist state is less totalitarian and arguably less murderous. Certainly if you fall in line, you're safe. In a communist state, anyone can accuse you of being a Kulak or Class Enemy and off you go. In fascism, once you've established your credentials you're generally quite safe.

I have a question, and I am being very serious here.

How are we as a country viewed by the rest of the world?

It seems to me that WE are the terrorists.

You understand perfectly, your lack of understanding is the exact legal situation these detainees are in, they are neither criminals or POWs. They are terrorists and thus no law seems to apply.
