That's sad, but the Nikka Miyagi distillery saw half its employees killed in a tsunami last year and all the barrels were destroyed by the salt water.

But I'm sure I feel very bad for the guy who died at the Glenfiddich distillery too.

This may be the thread where you display your idiocy by name dropping a 400$ bottle of scotch....but it all depends on the name you drop.

You forgot to start that with , "Yo, Glenfiddich, I'm-a let you finish, but..." and and it with "OF ALL TIME!"

Not a fan of Glenfiddich - I prefer Jameson, myself. (I know, they're not exactly the same kind of booze, depending on how familiar you are with whisky vs. whiskey.)

There, I name-dropped a $30-$35 bottle of Irish whiskey. It's not very obscure. You've probably heard of it, and can easily acquire some at your local liquor store if you're interested.

Jack Black 62: I need to go shed a tear for Lord Admiral Nelson.

and George Plantagenet, 1st Duke of Clarence

Methoughts that I had broken from the Tower
And was embarked to cross the Bergundy,
And in my company my brother Gloucester,
Who from my cabin tempted me to walk
Upon the hatches: thence we looked toward England
And cited up a thousand heavy times,
During the wars of York and Lancaster,
That had befall'n us. As we paced along
Upon the giddy footing of the hatches,
Methought that Gloucester stumblèd, and in falling
Struck me (that thought to stay him) overboard
Into the tumbling billows of the main.
O Lord! methought what pain it was to drown!
What dreadful noise of waters in mine ears!
What sights of ugly death within mine eyes!
Methoughts I saw a thousand fearful wracks;
A thousand men that fishes gnawed upon;
Wedges of gold, great anchors, heaps of pearl,
Inestimable stones, unvaluèd jewels,
All scatt'red in the bottom of the sea:
Some lay in dead men's skulls, and in the holes
Where eyes did once inhabit, there were crept
(As 'twere in scorn of eyes) reflecting gems,
That wooed the slimy bottom of the deep
And mocked the dead bones that lay scatt'red by.
I passed (methought) the melancholy flood,
With that sour ferryman which poets write of,
Unto the kingdom of perpetual night.

/a butt of malmsey

Did you hear about Matt who fell into a vat
Well they say that he drowned but it took him a week
And they say that it wasn't as strange as all that
When you think that he kept getting out for a leak.

/strings begin

Legend has it that one of John Jameson's workers became hardened and bitter toward his employer and benefactor. When he began to come in to work already drunk and belligerent, it was understandable. When he began to beat off in the machinery...that was another matter. And though Jameson was kind, his employee was relentless. So in the end it was the very semen-tainted vat of John Jameson's Irish Whiskey the man poisoned that would prove...

...his tomb...

I can drink about any scotch in the world. jameson or any mash whisky will make me puke. (this is due to a failed koolaid bourbon experiment when I was 12)

Yeah. My understanding is that "whisky" (no 'e') means scotch, and "whiskey" (with an 'e') means whiskey. At least, that's what I take away from Whisky magazine, which mostly talks about scotch.

Nah. Glenfiddich isn't bad. The 15 year is pretty decent. However, for the money, The Dalmore 12 year is a great buy.

That's be more a display of taste and purchasing power. Drinking prowess is determined by your ability to stomach vile swill like radiator moonshine, pruno, and rubbing alcohol.

Nope. But you will have to start drinking PBR as a chaser. There's no debating this, so don't even try.
