That's not place one usually associates with fish.

A Great Barrier Reef pearlfish has been filmed by the BBC living inside a sea cucumber's bottom.

Ah, I love the Brits for their funny ways of avoiding words that they think might be rude. It's almost as if they have a stick up their bottom.

It reminds me of the Waldorf Salad episode of Fawlty Towers:

American: You're the manager, you're responsible. What are you gonna tell your chef?
Basil Fawlty: [Pausing] I'll have a word with him.
American: A word? Man, you're gonna tell him, "lay it on the line!", and if he doesn't get his act together, your gonna bust his ass!

When Basil gets to the kitchen, he tells Manuel that he needs to bring the guy his Waldorf Salad or "I'll break your bottom"

BullBearMS: Could be worse...

The Amazon's Most Feared Fish: The Candiru is a terrifying fish, even when stacked up against its fellow river monsters of the Amazon.

It has a knack for finding open orifices and working its way inside. Once inside another organism, the Candiru feeds on its host's blood, becoming increasingly swollen. The Candiru is the star of an urban legend - which turns out to be true - of a man who was urinating in the Amazon River when a 6-inch Candiru swam up his urine stream into his penis. The fish remained there for days, until a surgeon was able to remove it.

Pretty sure that this isn't possible. Fluid mechanics, how the fark do they work?

I've seen the footage of the operation. It happened.

And by 'swam up his urine stream', I don't think it means 'actually left the water and swam up the pee'. Candiru usually find their way to a fish's gillslits by following urea; I think the guy was waist-deep in the water taking a leak, and the fish followed the urea, and...well, yeah.

Also, they have spines to prevent them from coming out.

While those other fish are gross or scary, I would love to see if the desert pupfish could be maintained in captivity. I'm not usually one for wanting to mess with endangered species, but it seems to me that pupfish would be ideal starter aquarium fish, if you could establish a line in captivity. Perhaps even bring it back from endangerment.
