zato_ichi: Drunk.

Almost certainly. I saw the search boat out there this morning, right by UWO campus where he apparently spent Sunday. Not likely he went in sober.

I'd say that's a safe bet on being drunk. I worked in Austin for a decade, and at least once a year Lake Travis had a story of a missing student, and alcohol was involved 99% of the time.

Sad to hear this.

Oh, and to avoid any confusion, he was pulled from the Fox River. The Wisconsin River doesn't flow through Oshkosh.

From another article: Michael Philbin was sentenced to six months in jail in 2009 after he was convicted of sexually assaulting two young girls.

One less a-hole to worry about in this world.

This. Not to sound like a cold-hearted bastard, but I wanted the Steelers to lose, their coordinator was seriously harmed, and they lost. Now the Packers' coordinator is seriously harmed (emotionally, that is), so maybe there will be more correlation.

Plus, the distraction of a head-coaching offer might further muddle his game plan thinking.

Kind of surprised that nobody in the article comments has started blathering about the Smiley Face Killer yet. Whenever some college kid goes missing here in WA (and invariably gets hauled out of a lake a few days later) there are always a few diehards talking about how it must have been the faceless serial killer who likes to shove drunk kids into rivers.

/Planning to send my son to college in the desert.
//Don't believe in any serial killer, do understand how easy it is to get disoriented and screwed up when you're drunk. Also how hard it can be to notice water on a dark night until you're in it.

Michael previously was in headlines when he was sentenced to six months in jail for misdemeanor sexual assault and battery charges.

According to the criminal complaint, Philbin and a friend forced one girl to have sex against her will in the family's living room. After he helped the second victim to his parents' bed as she passed out, Philbin allegedly had sex with her.

After reading that account, I'd really prefer if we don't hear a "win this one for Mikey" sentiment all week and during the game.

An employee in a building near the Fox River heard ice breaking and someone call for help around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday.

InferiousX: Tebow's Old Testament God strikes again.

It was the Fox River, not the Tebow River. Obviously Tim's coach did it.

IF the Packers were playing the Broncos this weekend, then I'd think Tebow is actually an agent of Satan. First, burn the shiat out of the Steelers' OC and then kill the son of the Packers' OC.

So unless something bad happens to the Patriots' OC, I'd say Tebow is in the clear.

Ima10urin8: he was found guilty of abusing two young girls........ hopefully some revenge.

Not to excuse what he did (it was rape and he's an a-hole) but he was 17 and they were 16 when the incident occurred so legally he was a young boy himself.
Really sounds like he was a guy with major alcohol issues, which ultimately led to his death through stupidly wandering around in the dark.

the Pats OC brought the plague known as Tebow upon the NFL

Tebow wins. A football coach's rapist son dies.

Can't explain that.

I've had sex with a passed out woman before, but it was my wife and I had told her earlier that if she passed out drunk that night, I was just going to roll her over and boink her anyway.

Now we're divorced, so if I tried it again, I would be in trouble.

Kid just didn't know the rules, the dumb shiat.

2012-01-09 09:28:04 PM
Sucks he died, but it is very common for drunk Wisconsin college kids to die in the river. There was like 4 in one year in the Chippewa River, and there was a bunch in La Crosse. There was rumors that since there was so many kids found dead in the river after drinking that there was a serial killer around here. According to some prof at St. Cloud said there was a pattern of deaths that goes as far as Ohio. One of the drownings that was in Minnesota was ruled as murdered.

Same thing has been said for years about drunken college kids in La Crosse with the Mississippi.

Just another smiley face murder. Move along nothing to see here.

Man, sorry to hear that. :( Sounds like the kid wasn't exactly a role model, but how sad for his family. :(

It seems NFL players lose sons in an inordinate percentage compared to the rest of society. Many of these are just the past couple of years.

Interesting that the linked article mentioned somebody hearing ice breaking and cries for help at 230 in the morning... What'd they do, go back to sleep?
