Rick must like pink slips a lot.

2012-01-09 05:58:05 PM
"I have no doubt that Mitt Romney was worried about pink slips, whether he was going to have enough of them to hand out because his company Bain Capital with all the jobs that they killed, I'm sure he was worried that he'd run out of pink slips," he continued.

This is what the "Job Creators" do. So, do you love these people or hate them? I'm so confused.

Never mind. You're a pack of idiots. Disregard the question.

Yep, a nice "oh, snap" comment. I wonder who wrote it for him?

Gingrich passed him a note

Still, you gotta give the guy credit for remembering it, even if it was written.

Good one, I hope the Obama people are taking notes. That line has lots of potential for reuse by the Obama campaign.

Nah not by Obama but from leftwing groups and Super Pacs. Obama is gonna be like Romney and claim the high road.

I'm glad its republicans hammering Romney on it right now though. Democrats are so bad at being the bad guy that they'll end up bungling it.

I remember a saying that, paraphrased, goes, "to lose an argument to a conservative, let him talk for 30 seconds. To win an argument with a conservative, let him talk for 5 minutes."

They're real good at hanging themselves.

The joke was there, the delivery mangled it. When Perry entered the race, as a Democrat I was concerned.

I thought he had a great chance to win. Now I just think less of Texans.

Mitt Romney the "Pink Slip President"

Mitt was talking about firing corporations, not people. His team said so.

Then again, Mitt thinks corporations are people too... so... yeah

You know, when he wanted to list three federal departments he wanted to get rid of, I really wish he'd ended it like this:

"And, uh, well ... I forget the the third one, but your mother's a whore."

Way to pull the zingers out after both the debates are over.

Romney made companies more efficient by gutting the bad apples and doing away with the people who were sucking at the teat without giving anything back. Isn't that exactly what Republicans want to do to society writ large? This isn't a great attack, methinks.

Turbo Cojones: Look, Romney is the nominee. Cut the crap already or you'll make him look bad....

Seriously. At this point, Perry should be less concerned about scoring digs and more worried about "joking" himself out of a VP invitation.

I think he's managed that just fine all by himself. I can't remember a candidate this high profile turning out so completely inept in my lifetime, and that includes Dukakis.

Well that's true. There's no coming back for Perry. It's kind of funny that he has only lost one election in his entire life (last week) but will most likely never win another one again.

But the point remains that Mitt Romney is going to drag down anyone stupid enough to hold his hand in the next 9 months.

Words my father told me many years ago, in the wake of Reagan's nomination:

'Democrats nominate the guy with the best hair and/or teeth, Republicans nominate the next guy in line'.

It's Mitt's 'Turn', and Santorum will be the Veep. Nobody gives a shiat if Santorum goes down in flames.

It's funny ... awesome, really ... to watch the pack of non-Romneys dogpile him over Bain. If he were a potential endorsement instead of the presumptive nominee, they'd be praising his mighty business powers. Instead, for at least a few days, they're sounding more like Democrats than the average Blue Dog.

/they'll all fall in line later

As written, it was much better - from the printed remarks shared with the press:

"You know, we have a saying - that's right - we have a saying in Texas. And that saying is that pink slips is - I have no doubt that if Mitt Romney was worried about really slips of any color, it was about pink slips in his business at Bain Capital, whether he was going to have enough of them pink slips to hand out in the eighties and nineties, that's what we say, because his company, Mitt Romney's company business, and that's Bain Capital- which what with all the jobs that they had killed, I'm sure he was worried that his business would run out of pink slips because of all of the people he fired in that business of taking over businesses and firing people. Giving them "pink slips" like people get when they are fired. And that's just not right."

I swear to God, watching the GOP candidates eat each other alive is better than any sporting event currently televised.

The only thing that's sad is that there probably won't be anything left of the final candidate by the time the REAL fight starts.

Would somebody please explain the art of a simple punchline to the GOP?

2012-01-10 07:51:41 AM
Turbo Cojones: Look, Romney is the nominee. Cut the crap already or you'll make him look bad....

While Romney may eventually be the nominee, and I don't think he needs any help looking bad - I just can't see how he's going to actually wrap up the nomination before say June.

For nearly all the states leading up to and including super Tuesday he's quite unlikely to get over 50%. Until he starts getting over 50% regularly he just can't force all the others out.

By that time he could easily had the nervous breakdown that he's obviously been building up to for the last 10 years.

2012-01-10 08:50:14 AM
Yet he couldn't properly execute the punchline.

Well, they usually use slander for a punchline. Baby steps.

I think maybe Howard Dean's "Eaaaaagh!" moment did the job faster and more efficiently than anyone before or since. He blew it all in about three seconds.

Well, the media is always a crucial component in these situations, for sure.
But it needs something to work with.
