What did the guy really say? Just that being on a subway with people speaking different languages, single mothers, drug-addicts, and AIDS patients depressed him! Yeah, I know... this is America and we "celebrate diversity," but this guy has been made out worse than Marge Schott and singled out unfairly by the Politically-Correct Thought-Police.

Just goes to show, if your up doing good people like you, if you down, people hate you. Typical New Yorkers.

GO TRIBE!! Trade that loser.

I gotta agree with Shuh. For the most part, New York is a cesspit. He was just stupid enough to voice his opinion in the nationl media.

It will be interesting to see him play in New York. Is there any way he can refuse the trade?

2001-11-08 09:04:47 AM
I think he'd get booed out because he sucks. Who cares what he said anymore. He's terrible. He had one or two good years, and that's it.

Ohhh boy.. this is going to be fun.

Very smart move. They'll be able to pick him up at a bargain, and attendance will jump.
Coming from the Mark Cuban school of how to run a sports team.

Brickwall- How can you say New York is a cesspit, coming (I'm assuming) from CLEVELAND?

2001-11-08 09:15:15 AM
I've seen him in quite a few games in ATL, He may be a jackass but he's a jackass with a 100mph fastball.
The dude can pitch. Of course that was two seasons ago.

2001-11-08 09:15:20 AM
Dynein- Mets fans threw batteries at John Rocker a game or two after he made the comments about the people ont he #7 train.

2001-11-08 09:17:21 AM
Now Arolando, you know what we do when we assume, don't you?

I'm not from Cleveland.

2001-11-08 09:20:53 AM
Brickwall- Point taken.

2001-11-08 09:24:29 AM
There is no way in hell that this will actually happen.

2001-11-08 09:29:19 AM
I hope it happens...or..well, I just hope the Tribe can get something, anything, for Rocker...even if it's say, a $10 gift certificate at Kohl's.

2001-11-08 09:30:41 AM
You know, we here in Philly started the battery throwing trent.

FARKIN SWEET!!!

First, boozing is deemed theraputic, then this...

What's next, "Carrot Top commits gruesome suicide"?

Oh, happy day...

2001-11-08 09:33:55 AM
C'mon this would be like the Wings signing Claude Lemieux, or Patty Roy...it just can't happen.

2001-11-08 09:55:33 AM
GREAT NEWS.... been sad ever sense they got that fark. TRADE 'EM TRIBE...... he has sucked as a pitcher this year anyway........

GO TRIBE!

2001-11-08 10:03:20 AM
Take him, PLEASE take him away. All he did was pitch like a 2nd grader and try to make more stupid remarks which the media largely ignored this time, most likely out of boredom.

Thank you Cleveland for bringing Wickers back!! The MLBs number one big fat reliever!!

This is about as likely to happen as Arizona winning another World Series anytime soon.

2001-11-08 10:57:50 AM
BLAH BLAH... why do you think Arizona was a fluke? the Yankees had NEVER faced them in any kinda game... you had NO IDEA what to expect. They may do it again, they may not.... but only time will tell.

it is the yankees that will not make it back anytime soon. the streak has been broken......

2001-11-08 11:02:13 AM
I hope you're right, Augie.
Of course, the Tribe doesn't look all that promising for next season - unless, of course, the Twins are one of the teams to be dissolved.
But that'd be a shame, especially if both Fla. teams remain.

2001-11-08 11:09:00 AM
Augie...who said anything about the Yankees? Their streak had to be broken sometime. But if the D'backs get switched to the AL West, they'll have to contend with Oakland AND Seattle. That'll be more competition than they're used to. :-)

2001-11-08 11:20:04 AM
The Mets have said that they don't want him. Was in the New York Times this morning.

2001-11-08 11:47:59 AM
"received $1.9 in arbitration last year and is eligible again."
Wow, a buck ninety. Big money in baseball.

Rocker is one of the best closers in the game!!!

If I were the Mets owner I would be all over that. And the Tribes owner should have a foot up his ass for wanting to get rid of him and not using him all season. He was leading the league in saves last year before the Braves got rid of him. The Tribe used him for about 5 saves then took him out. I think it is the rest of the Indians that sucked. Not Rocker. Those asshole New Yorkers are getting just what they deserve now..... well, they dont deserve great pitching, but they are getting that too.

This is as foul as Mussina signing for the Yankees. Mr. I hate the Yankees and would never play for them. Fark him. I wish people would have some set of values other than the almight dollar.

"Just goes to show, if your up doing good people like you, if you down, people hate you. Typical New Yorkers."

it doesnt make sense. typical ncer.

Classic.

Crill: Dammit, Wick isn't fat! He's big boned. ;-)

And he's the best farking closer in the majors. And I'm glad Cleveland is trading Rocker. Wick-y! Wick-y! Wick-y! Go Tribe!

Everyday will be battery day at Shea!

2001-11-08 04:52:36 PM
What is the point of throwing batterys at someone? Why not bananas or potato chips?
Ok I am an Orioles fan all the way but i gotta agree with UpYours Mussina once told the media he would never play for the Yankees look where he is. and he was the best pitcher the orioles had.
Look at all the pitchers the orioles had but got rid of...

Mike Mussina - TRADER!!! but still damn good
Ben McDonald - very good
Kevin Brown - went to Florida best ERA one year
Jamie Moyer - went to Seatlle best "junk" pitcher

The Orioles had all of them in the same roster at one time...but now they're gone...what the hell was Angelos thinking!?!?!

Oh well they will win the world series again someday just wait and see, and it'll be won for the Iron Man : Cal Ripken

2001-11-08 07:40:19 PM
We had Curt Schilling around that time too.

Ben McDonald, what has he done since leaving Bawlmer?
