but pirates

I would imagine that he only supports it to the extent that, if he were in the White House, he would surreptitiously tell the DOJ to seize the spreadingsantorum.com website citing some sort of IP violation.

Hahahaha, subby. +1

At a campaign stop this weekend, in-the-spotlight GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum said he supports increased Internet regulation

Wait - I thought it was the First Commandment of the GOP bible that all regulation is bad?

That's not entirely true. The GOP just wants government to be small enough to fit in your bedroom.

Took me a good few seconds. Brilliant, subby.

But Santorum seems too ready to look to regulation for the solution to the piracy problem, suggesting that government interference might be an effective way to thwart piraters

Says a representative of the party of small government?

This is the guy who wants to ban all pornography and contraception. He probably supports mandatory internet filters that report you for googling "buy condoms online" or "how do I become an atheist".

more restrictions for the humans, no restrictions for the corporations, because jesus.
GOP's platform

I skimmed some of the comments on that site. Those people don't seem fond of Santorum. Did anyone else notice that?

Remember, folks... these people are the best of the Republican party. The epitome of what is good and righteous, to be emulated by all others.

This is true. I overlooked the fact that SOPA and anti-Net Neutrality movements are both typically supported by republicans and corporations.

A quick google search will bring up all kinds of dirt on him.

I wonder if Rick will pick up the SOPA.
I hear he does.

All you all guys are aware that creating and enforcing copyrights is an enumerated power, right? Right?

FTFA: Take a look at the example of comedian Louis C.K. whose faith in his fan base and willingness to offer his product in an innovative manner has been richly rewarded.

Also, it helps that Louis C.K. doesn't suck, unlike the rest of the crap that we are expected to pay for because we have no other choice.

Never sully the great name of WIlley (Spread some chicken on the hill) Stargell in the same breath of that ass pestering moranmonger again, bro.

He was clearly referring to Clara's cousin, Bleh. And to be fair, I wouldn't want to help her either! Playing with Captain Hero's feelings like that.

I am. I think SOPA is stupid and despite his sensible answer on this particular subject I think Santorum is even stupider. But stupider than both of them combined would be a person who criticizes a limited-federal government type for favoring the federal government regulating one of the few areas where it is specifically tasked with regulating.

Slam Santorum for wanting the feds to regulate whether a citizen may set fire to plants he grew on his own land and inhale the resulting fumes and you, me and Clarence Thomas can all go out for a weekend of camping and decrying conservative hypocrisy. Enforcing copyright? I might disagree as to how but I won't call a person a hypocrite for trying to enforce the specific directions of the constitution.

I doubt Santorum knows that SOPA isn't gay slang. Probably has his secretary print out his emails.

Shut the fark up, Ricky - you're out of your element.

2012-01-10 07:32:17 AM
I think it's a natural response from Mr. Santorum - he's heard what happens to politicians who drop the SOPA.
