It's OK, Grandpa Joe. I bet the codeine makes the ibuprofen taste terrible.

Not to mention the placebo effect.

Obviously we need to loosen regulations on the pharmaceutical industry.

If they could only extricate the addictive part of that high powered pain killer and add that to their aspirin thhey'd be just like cigarettes. All addiction, no high.

And a full fledged oxycontin addiction doesn't get you high??

Subby, if Excedrin is announcing that to you, maybe you already took a few too many of the tainted pills, just sayin'....

And now my pain relief section at work looks like shiat. Between these guys and McNeil(Tylenol), it seems like a race to see who can drive away more customers.

Tobacco use does give the user a "high". It's a nasty, short lived "high", and most people develop a tolerance to it extremely quickly, but it certainly does provide a "high" nonetheless.

As for TFA, it would be quite a surprise if you thought you were taking some Gas-X, but got an opioid instead.

The resulting lawsuits will be Excedrin Headache #37.

I wish I was this lucky. Open a bottle of OTC pain reliever, and find something that actually works inside the bottle.

Before you deaden your brethren, Excedrin

2012-01-09 04:09:29 PM
From what I can tell, it wasn't so much that excedrin would have opioids, as the bottle would accidentally have a percocet or two in it (broken or whole).

Kind of like Lucky Charms - with the little marshmallows mixed in.

/they're magically delicious!

Anything short of percosets might as well be candy for all the good they do.

Yes...but it's illegal to obtain without a prescription, and forget it ever being over the counter.

Aspirin needs a way to hook people like cigarettes with strong addictive ingredients, but very little pay-off.

True point but the high in a cig, even for a first time smoker could never be considered on par with an oppiate.

I hope no one with migraines runs out of Excedrin in the next couple weeks, cause it'll be hard to find more in the store until they get their stockpile back up. I had this problem a couple years ago when they recalled all the children's liquid tylenol and advil because of some stupid mixup. My kid had a bad fever one night and I had to go to 4 different stores before I finally found some generic store brand.

kermit_the_frog: Anything short of percosets might as well be candy for all the good they do.

Advils are great because they actually take down swelling. Tylenol, aspirin and the like are essentially useless.

Good thing caffeine's not addictive. Otherwise I'd be pounding a coffee a day.

Ambitwistor: The resulting lawsuits will be Excedrin Headache #37.

FDA officials say they are not recalling the drugs because they are medically necessary and the likelihood that they contain stray pills is low.

A new car built by my company leaves somewhere traveling at 60 mph. The rear differential locks up. The car crashes and burns with everyone trapped inside. Now, should we initiate a recall? Take the number of vehicles in the field, A, multiply by the probable rate of failure, B, multiply by the average out-of-court settlement, C. A times B times C equals X. If X is less than the cost of a recall, we don't do one.

Why take eight mispackaged Excedrin when you could take only two defective Alleve?

Better not take 8 Excederin. Any more than 2 a day is an overdose. Your thinking of Tylenol.

you can die from this shiat. people have. 2 MAX.

If they're going to reimburse me for any bottles that fall within the recall, someone explain to me why I shouldn't run to the store(s) right now and play the Excedrin lottery?

I've got 3 half-used mega size bottles of Excedrin at home. Should I pour them all into a jar and send the 3 empties to the company and ask for a refund? Those big bottles are expensive. Kind of like when they recalled those Totino's party pizzas a few years ago because of a problem with the pepperoni meat on them. I had about 30 empty Totinos boxes in my recycling box in the garage when the recall came out. I sent in the UPC's from all 30 and got 30 free pizza coupons back from the company. See, eating a 90-cent pizza every day can come in handy sometimes. Maybe that's why I get migraines and have to take Excedrin.

After about two to three days of caffeine withdrawal headache, you'll get nausea, vertigo spells, and complete loss of emotional control.

Excedrin really helps with my migraines, takes them from "curl up in a dark room and pray for death" into "I can live now, keep the lights down and don't make noise." Takes about 30-60 minutes and some protein with the Excedrin.

Migraines are from a TBI back in '05. Good times.
