Where does it say anything about dogs?

halfway through the article, it mentions the guy's neighbors dog was stomped... or something like that.

Have ya'll ever actually seen a moose in the wild?

They are so fricken huge it's unbelievable. I've been around cattle, deer, buffalo, all that, but was in a school bus on a trip in Maine... a moose was in the dirt road, standing there, so we waited... eventually it moved to the side and as we drove by, it was looking me in the eye... the driver, a Maine native, said "ah, she's a pretty little baby female"... then we saw to big males cracking their heads against each other... those things are like clydesdale horses... which are also freakishly huge...

Anyway, moose are really freakin big (when they are adults). freaky big. really freaky big.

don't screw with moose.

"I've never been that close to a moose," he said. "I think I was scared."

Kid, if you were scared, you'd know it.

Perhaps Alaska should declare open season on moose right now.

I bet Mr. Bigglesworth could take down a moose

They didn't mention that the guy who got killed was seriously farking with the moose; I saw the video (I'm from Anchorage). I've walked across many a moose in the morning, since it's so dark. Just start moving away, and they don't really seem to get freaked out by you at all!

They need to get some Norwegian Elkhounds. These stout grey dogs were bred to hunt moose. Most Norwegian moose-hunters still use them.

The man was not farking with the moose, he was an 80 year old man trying to get through a door way. The moose had been harrassed earlier in the day by some teenagers that were throwing snow balls at it. I don't believe that you are from Anchorage or you would have read about it in the paper.

LOL Drew, I bet Mr Bigglesworth chews off your arm before you get within 20 ft of a Moose. Just to echo what some folks have said, I've got family in Alaska, and Moose are Farking HUGE, and not the least intimidated by, say an 18 wheeler. Which is a good thing because a freaked out moose is SCARY.

Moose are HUGE. I almost walked into one. I was walking to my car & it was early morning. It was laying by a tree in a shadow. I was about 2 feet away. All I thought was OH shiat! It huffed at me, so I backed up very slowly. I went back & had my husband drive me to my car. When I turned my headlights on I found out that I was 2 feet away from a momma moose, & she had her baby right behind her under the tree. Momma moose are the worst, they can be the meanest.

Yeah moose around here in the city are pest. They come in my front yard in winter to eat the trash out of my trash cans hehe.

Those things just don't look that big once you get up next to one.

Oh one more thing. If you ever see kids throwing snowballs at them just leave them alone. They deserve whatever they get.

I was following this moose-gal at very close range taking snapshots. She turned to me and snorted, looking very pissed off. I turned to run. Instantly, the difference between long moose legs and short human legs in 2 feet of snow became apparant. I face planted instantly, my camera, face, everything. My wife said the moose, for all intents and purposes, chuckled at me and walked off.

All the crazt shiat that goes on in alaska and a moose story gets posted. What about the remote villages where residents huff the contents of their snowmoile fuel tanks and then bleed to death in the brain.

now THAT'S news

I like moose stories better.

WHAT the f*ck are you talking about sixdeadpandas???... I happen to live in anchorage...and you dont have a clue!!!!!!!....moose will only attack when totally aggravated...(unless it it is a sick moose or a mother moose protecting it's young)...don't comment unless you really know what is up with an animal....as for remote villages's where residents "huff" the contents of their sled's tanks and bleed to death...what planet are you from????????...

Doctor: Your right.
Rhettac: you are also right. If you were a true Alaskan, and kept up with the news you would know this. Just Kidding.

I think your just talking about separate incidents though.
Both happened. Given it was around the same time. We have had lots of moose incidents the last few years..

Aletha: "..moose will only attack when totally aggravated...(unless it it is a sick moose or a mother moose protecting it's young)...don't comment unless you really know what is up with an animal...." what the hell? I made no comment on moose behavior, I only said that it was not newsworthy. Since you live in anchorage you should know that it is almost a daily occurence to see moose. It's Boring, that's all. And as for huffing gas, people get brain hemorrhage's and die. That is a fact. I am dissapointed that I finally saw an AK post and it was lame
