Using your phone as a remote control is awesome.

Ok now in the right thead.. That settings screen on the Playbook couldn't be anymore similar to Android Honeycomb if they tried. It's nearly the same exact thing.

Based on the other screen shot, it also looks like they lifted their color scheme and button/slider design from Apple.

Are you looking at a different image than the one at the top of the article? Because they really don't seem all that similar to me.

I care more about functionality, and hope that more comes with the update.

Before reading the article I figured they were just going to email instructions on how to root the things to all registered users.

You can get a 64gb Playbook from Blackberry's website for $299

Or you could apply that money towards a functional tablet.

This, You can get a Lenovo table running Honeycomb for $329 with a built in SD slot to up it to 96G. However I have the 16G when they first went on sale and upgraded it to 2.0Beta and it has been pretty stable. I have sideloaded a couple android apps and it is pretty intermittent on which work and which won't

I got a blackberry playbook for christmas. It's a pretty fun little tablet. I use it to watch tv shows, read ebooks and surf the net. I definitely recommend getting the 64gb for $299 at Staples at least for a hard drive.

See my post right before yours. There are three things that frustrate me with it:
1. the power button who camd up with it should be beaten.
2. no Mkv support. Supposedly it is in beta. The concept of video player in the app store only requires flv support. whoever brings one out that has mkv will get my money.
3. accessing network shares

The power button is frustrating, but it's a minor inconvenience. Once the android market becomes available, I'm sure there will be some decent video players available with mkv support.

I really like my playbook and I'm a huge android fan!

I understand that there are medications now that will allow you to shake your tiny fist in rage for up to four hours before you require medical attention.

Don't get too excited. Using the Beta build the apps that work are hit and miss. I am hoping for the best but I don't want to get my hopes up. Of the 4 apps I downloaded only one worked and that was barely.

Functional implies apps that you can use which to be honest the Playbook is severely lacking in. The New section of the App World is usually books.

The PB is already very functional and if you read the press release it is continuing to develop into a tablet very distinct from its' competitors. And it doesn't run iOS or Android or WebOS or WP7 or Symbian or Bada and I like that.

/device agnosticism or bust
