Hello - Steevo `Rocket-Retard' Harper, Canuckian centre and PM here.
No, I ain't playing no shinny with ol' Vlad Putin. The man likes to check from behind into the boards, if y'know what I mean.
Sure, the great white north let's them same-sexers tie the knot - buy MY balloon knot is off limits - even if Vlad is a sexy biatch with his shirt off.
My PR peeps insist that I keep my shirt on - with the moobs hiding behind the ol' sweater vest.
Sweater vests are very slimming. What the frick were we talking aboot again?
Those damned concussions I got falling off my desk really scrabbled the noggin.

Harper is known as a hockey buff, while Putin reportedly took up the game only recently.
Putin on skates for the first time must have been something to behold. I wouldn't want to be the first person to laugh at him though, he gives off a definite 'send you off to Siberia while I poison your family with thallium' vibe.

Speak for yourself. I haven't been able to find work for months. It came down to choosing between internet and car insurance. I am now without a car because I couldn't afford the insurance payment anyhow. It only makes it that much more difficult to find work and live a normal life. Work/life shouldn't be a desperate struggle to pay bills, especially when the greedy corporations who are taking that money are reporting exceedingly successful profits each additional year. Instead of doing anything about it, our government sits idle (and in some cases, such as with McGuinty in Ontario, manipulates the law further in their favor).
We've pushed back as a population to fight the telecommunications and their oligopoly on the market last year. When are we going to start pressing for regulation on the thief racket that is run by the insurance companies?
Let's not forget the power we hold on our hands. As the mass majority, we have more control over them than they do over us. This is something we need to realize and use to our advantage.

Hey there buddy, you sound awfully unenthused about our Glorious Patriotic Victory over the American invader by the grace of God, Sir Isaac Brock and southern Ontario farmers. Don't worry, though, I know someone at the Harper Government Tim Horton's Minor Hockey and Historical Re-Education Facility in Rabbit Lake, Sask., who always has space for people with potential. After a day of refreshing work in the uranium mine, all of the Harper Government Absolutely There of Their Own Free Will Labourers receive complimentary Timbits™ with their Just Slightly Irradiated™ lake trout, and six hours of stimulating instruction on patriotic history of glorious Canada. But it's the weekend self-criticism sessions that will really have you appreciating how Canadian it is to say "Sorry" as you yourself realize your previous doctrinal incorrectness in a mediated group setting led by former Governor-General Adrienne Clarkson. Ahh, there really is nothing like the North. You'll love it, buddy!

Harper has consistently opposed abortion. Since the Supreme Court of Canada has legalized abortion, it would require Harper to use the Charter's notwithstanding clause in order to criminalize it. That would endanger Harper's chances of re-election.

Oh no, it was invalid long before that. When your prime motivation to vote is to punish a candidate or party leader for a single-issue stance without any understanding of civics or each party's record in the last however-long-it's-been, some very strange things will happen at the box.

.
No he's not. He's a wanna-be Republican. I'd consider him more the Canadian sweater-vest wearing version of Romney.
Harper's brought in a crime bill that even some Texas Republicans say goes too far, he's phasing out public campaign financing, just reduced corporate taxes again, is abandoning national standards for healthcare, wants to get rid of CBC, is chipping away at labour rights (legislated postal workers back to work when they were locked out, and moved to have flight attendents declared an essential service like police or firefighters so they couldn't strike), and is itching to be the tough guy when it comes to Iran. He's signed bilateral agreements with the US that undermine our privacy laws and consumer protection regulations.
His inner circle and cabinet have too many corruption scandals to list, at one point he was using Harper Government letterhead in place of Government of Canada, and he even had a plan to move the press gallery out of parliament and into a building across the street where it would be invite-only and journalists would get a copy of the "official" dvd of press conferences instead of allowing camera crews. And those are just the things I can think of off the top of my head.
He may not actively be fighting to repeal same-sex marriage or abortion laws at the moment, but he's toyed with the idea and I think if the US elects a Republican and takes a hard right turn socially, Harper will try to follow.

A link to something he said during an election campaign when he was trying to woo voters away from the Liberals and NDP. And something that even if it wasn't campaign rhetoric I would frankly find it hard to take him at his word on after his government quietly withheld funding from International Planned Parenthood and presented a maternal/child health initiative to the G8 that prohibited that any of Canada's funding be used for abortion and will have to "consider" allowing funding to go to contraception.

I completely disagree. Harper is easily to the right of Romney and Huntsman. If Gingrich wasn't insane, Harper would likely be to the right of him too. You're abortion article is invalid. Harper doesn't have the political capital to criminalize abortion. However, he is, and always has been, on the record as being opposed to abortion. You cannot point to a single position he holds to put him to the left of Obama on the political spectrum.
