I'm seriously considering just leaving my car in the garage and walking to the street car. The walk to the street car would take me through that lot full of RVs. I just looked out there and there are no less than five smokers going in that lot. I think I'm going to call it a day at 2 pm.

Boycotting the NC game. The BCS is bullshiat, and I'm not adding to their revenue any more until we have a system that results in a real champion.

And not a single fark was given by those of us without cable. Seriously? This isn't an "ESPN on ABC" broadcast? Not that I'd give fark even if it was, seeing as it's two NFLDL SEC schools playing after 6 weeks off.

I actually think LSU is going to win this one fairly easily. Alabama's defense got exposed as being weak against the option, and so I think LSU's going to be able to gain steady yardage with option runs, bringing in the secondary a bit and being able to open up the field a bit with play-action passes and such. LSU has the best rushing defense in the country, so they'll be able to stop Trent Richardson again. Passing defense is LSU's weakness (not that it's much of a weakness, but still), but Alabama's passing game, while good, is not great, so I don't think they'll get the consistent kind of yardage needed to sustain drives. And we know from the last game that LSU's special teams are superior. Basically, I think LSU matches better against Alabama than Alabama matches up against LSU.

Not that I plan on watching the game anyway.

2012-01-09 11:40:21 AM
Even if Alabama wins, they won't win the polls unless its a serious blowout. Kindof a shiatty position for them to be placed in, though I'm sure the huge cash payment helps sooth wounds

Well at least we don't have to watch Ohio State puke all over the field tonight. Of course we could watch an ACC team give up 70 or we could watch a team from Oklahoma that can't beat unranked corn eating teams from Iowa, or we could watch an Oregon team that only got to a championship game by taking Boise off their schedule, only to get moped by Auburn. Ya'll biatch every year, but guess what....you have had 5, count em baby, 5 chances to knock the SEC off the mountain. And since you have failed all 5 times, we will just fight it out among ourselves.

Pretty much every cable box and ESPN3 type service is tracked now. Your cable box has an IP address and basically calls up Comcast and says "Hi, I'm box number ######, send me ESPN.". So its easy to figure out how many cable boxes were watching. I'm sure someone figures out those stats and uses it to help set the price for next year's ads.

Yup. Bama is at best 1-1 vs LSU and LSU has a better overall record (wins over WVU and Oregon, both of whom won BCS Bowl games). I really want to see LSU win to prove that you can schedule decent out of conference teams and still win it all.

/Of course 'Bama and LSU also massively oversign, which helps too

If they want any chance of showing real improvement this year they HAVE to win this game.

2012-01-09 12:22:45 PM
Didn't these two teams already play this year? Did Alabama win their Conference, if not, did they win their Division? What is the point of a repeat?

Jim from Saint Paul: If they want any chance of showing real improvement this year they HAVE to win this game.

I think it's a little early for a must-win, even if you're only gauging improvement.
It's a road game and Toronto is decent this year. The loss at Cleveland was disappointing but the team - the coaching staff, a few of the major acquisitions - have been together, what, four weeks? Five? And missing Barea, Beasley (I think they're still out tonight), and still haven't got Webster and Miller in the lineup?
I think we can win it but as long as they don't completely fall apart I wouldn't be too down on a loss at Toronto.

Beating Washington was, well... Washington is terrible. But watching Rubio, Williams and Love... I think that's the team's big 3 of the future. Beasley is pretty much trade bait at present, would like to move Ridnour as well. Maybe for a starting 2-guard. And Love's improvement this year is impressive, to the point where I'm no longer arguing against giving him a max deal.
//I do like seeing Wes move out of the starting 2-guard spot and moving Ellington in
//Wes is a 3 not a 2, he's struggling as is, only making it worse playing him out of position

So then how to niche networks that never (or rarely) get any Nielsen ratings get advertisers? Or why does ESPN waste its time on ESPN3 (which isn't tracked by that rating system)?

These days with tracking cookies and everything, you can likely find more demographic information off the guy that pulls up the ESPN3 stream than you can off the surverys Nielsen passes out.

Muta: What is the point of a repeat?

You can thank Okie St, Boise St, and Stanford for not taking care of business. As much as I'm not thrilled with the matchup tonight, either, someone has to run their gauntlet completely unscathed to stand up to the SEC bias and force Alabama out. No one did.

I hope this game ends in a tie. They go for 5 OTs and still don't score. I don't thin it will happen since both coaches have had a month to prepare. This will go one of two ways... Another close game, ending with a FG in OT or LSU wins in a blowout.

Doesn't matter to me either way. I hate the SEC and the BCS. I will not, cannot, watch it either. It is the one time I am thankful I can't get ESPN.
