This isn't about defense, it's about bad offense. LSU isn't even in the top 100 FBS teams for passing yards. That's not just bad, that's awful. And Alabama is 71st in the FBS for passing yards. Yeah, that's awful too. Plus while they're 1 and 2 for points against, neither one is in the top 10 for points for. And there were schools ahead of them for average margin of victory.

Alabama's offense looks competent at this rate
