Prison sentences would fix that. All the compensation they need.

How much you wanna bet that the bonuses aren't lower, just calculated differently?

Probably including every teller, janitor and fluffer and probably also temps, so that the 385k per employee on average comes together.

Here, let me help, take my spare change ... wait, I had some a minute ago ... and by "a minute ago," I mean 2005.

So they have to take a less expensive suite when they are in the Bahamas? No turn down service on the bed or mint on the pillow or native children to wipe their butts. Those poor poor people

385K? For doing what exactly? What do they contribute?

Nothing.

They are professional gamblers of other people's money.

If you really want to get mad about the bonuses and other nonsense associated with Wall Street read The Zeroe's by Randall Lane. It will make your head spin and hate those bastards even more

Subby, stick to sociology. I don't think your kind has the mental capacity to handle real subjects.

The BAHAMAS? *snerk* As if...

The Maldives or Mustique. Maybe Dubai, but that's so 2007.

Palm Beach or the Hamptons if you don't care for jet lag.

the funny thing about averages...

a handful of entries into the table that are excessively large will throw the 'average' completely off.

i *really* doubt that 9/10 employees at these firms makes that much. they'll be lucky if they clear 50-60k.

and you KNOW they're the folks getting cut. after all, how could they cut the salaries of the executives?!? they're the ones making the decisions!

They apparently contribute enough such that their employer's feel they're worth $385k. How much does your employer value your abilities and contribution?

I like the abcnews article about this a bit more since it has the quote:

"Becoming a partner at a Wall Street firm is very much like becoming an NFL lineman... After a while, your knees go and you're politely shown the door."

/made for a better headline, imo

The folks who'll really be singing the blues about this are New York City politicians. They get a ton of money from the taxes that the "greedy Wall Street bastards" pay. I have no doubt that they'll now blame those same bastards for not being greedy enough to pull in the big bucks so that they can fork it over pay their fair share to NYC.

X2 Sounds to me like Wall Street is finally realizing they need good PR (what? we aren't an island? huh. Go figure)

With all of the ups and downs of the market this year I have a VERY hard time believing that article especially when brokers are paid by the trade.

I'm not saying people shouldn't get paid for moving little pieces of paper around.
I am saying people shouldn't get paid much.
