Whoa, that was cool. That fielder has some fast reflexes.

I saw a couple of catches almost that good today watching the playoffs.

What sort of uneducated, human swill wouldn't recognise a crumpet if he saw one?

Good work kiwis, but a bit reckless throwing away the single decent catch a year you're capable of at the start of the year. Should've saved it for a proper match.

Very possibly the greatest catch I've ever seen. Bra-farking-vo!

And before anyone asks, the instant that a fielder places a foot over the rope, the ball is considered to have travelled over that rope and a boundary (in this case 6 runs) is awarded to the batsman. By performing this catch in this way, the ball is judged to have been within the field of play the whole time, and so the batsman is out.

Just getting that out of the way.

I did not know what a crumpet was, so I looked it up. Now I want one. Right now.

Oh yeah, and nice catch.

It's like a center-fielder saving a homerun in baseball. However the fielder can't touch out of bounds.
If the fielder's foot is out of bounds so is the ball, like an NFL reception or basketball pass.
But since we're talking ancient baseball (cricket) the ball would've been 'OUTTA HERE' for a 6 run homer.

/English muffins are a bit more crispy, but mostly the same.

No, not the one with the wooden reed...

I couldn't believe those blokes (or is it chaps? or mates? tossers? well, whatever) don't use gloves. Maybe that's why cricket takes so long. They have to have time-outs for the catching blokes to yell "ouch! ouch! ouch! ouch! ouch! ouch! ouch! ouch! ouch! ouch! ouch!" after every successful catch.

I usually catch the BBC sports news on NPR getting ready for bed, and I swear to the FSM that they're making shiat up as they go... "...the test ended 474 to 123 on 20 leaving them up 18 in the match standing at 4-naught..."

Before you tell me that's not a real score or whatever: I know. That's what it sounds like to me, and I've been listening to it for years. They're still using new words to explain the score.

I thought the cricket ball was red.

What now? "English" muffins and crumpets are not the same thing. If you call crumpets English muffin, what do you call muffins?

I think we can all agree that the cricket play would have had more impact with marching band music spicing up the replays.

Sorry to be Mr Negative here. It was awesome teamwork, but a great catch? The first guy did all the work but didn't catch it. The second guy caught a mildly difficult dolly from a few feet away.

Professional T20 cricketers would practice these sorta outfield catches regularly. They should catch them regularly. It's what they're paid for.

All things being equal, running with the flight of the ball and catching it is much more difficult. The 2 greatest catches of all time:

Steve Waugh

Fatty Vautin

Same commentator, BTW.

Think: the out-of-bounds rule for basketball.

It's the same as that.
