Funny, I never thought of that.

Still, you're all just playing to lose to the Saints.

My friend said this before and I agree: That might have been the least stressful Giants game this season. I couldn't be happier.

On the bright side, the Falcons achieved one of the rarest point totals in football. 2 in total, not sure when's the last time that happened in the postseason.

NFL record. No team has ever only scored a safety in the postseason.

Tim Tebow 1, Matty Hype 0

Great win, Giants. Now beat the Pack!

a good win.

go 49ers.....futile im sure

That wasn't an NFL team the Giants faced, it was a Pop Warner League team. The safety the Falcons got was a gift from Eli so that the Atlanta offense would not lose face from being held scoreless.

It's like the Mannings have something against people named Ryan.

I was joking at one point that the Braves were up 2-0 on the Yankees.

The Yankees sure did open a big 'ol can against the Braves.

Yet they still got swept by the redskins.

The Giants defense gave up 0 points.

As I Giants fan I know to say this with much trepidation: They look good.

Nah, Eli just can't get motivated unless he gets to come from behind, so he spotted them the safety.

Well, I guess it's not impossible for JPP to just go berserk and take over a game. But there's a similar risk out in San Francisco too.

Offense wins games, defense wins championships. Baltimore, San Francisco, Denver and New York have great defenses; Green Bay, New Orleans and New England have great offenses greatly assisted by QB-friendly rules. Something's gotta give.

As a Giants fan, it's nice to see half the coaches left in the playoffs from the Giants' bloodline (Coughlin, Belichick, Fox and Payton).

Please oh please oh please no Ed Hochuli in Giants games during this playoffs. Please oh please.

The Falcons should move up in the draft and get a dynamic playmaker on offense in the first round.

Let's go ahead and start the rebuilding list:

Fire Offensive Coordinator

Fire Defensive Coordinator

Eliminate the entire, non existent, secondary including the money thief Dunta Robinson

Trade Roddy White for some draft picks this upcoming draft

Hire Mike Martz

Find a good, up for hire Defensive Coordinator

Rebuild the damn team

2012-01-08 10:37:18 PM
Vanakatherock: Hire Mike Martz

With that O-line? Great hire, if you want Matt Ryan sacked 70+ times a season.

/I approve of this plan.

This. Did you enjoy the first half of the season when Ryan was on his ass over and over? Because square that and extend it over a full season.

Are you a Saints fan? Because that's really the only plausible explanation for this list.

2012-01-08 10:46:31 PM
So for only the second time in history two quarterbacks with 3 or more consecutive 4,000 yard seasons will face off. And it'll be the fist time that such quarterbacks face off while their streaks are active.

So subby rips off a Fox line (read by Joe Buck) and uses an Espn link to get a greenlight?

Nicely done!

No, actually I'm a Falcons fan. If you're a Falcons fan and don't see any of these changes are necessary, please feel free to jump bandwagons, permanently!

Rodgers didn't hit 4,000 last year (at least not if you're only counting passing yardage in the regular season). He missed 7 consecutive quarters and was within 80 yards, though.

That's retarded. Just because people think the idea of putting Matt Ryan in a Mike Martz offense is retarded...that doesn't mean we are bandwagoners looking for an exit.

It is obvious that the secondary (and defense, as a whole) needs improvement. I don't like Robinson, either. And, it is obvious the defensive planning needs to change since 3rd down offense is horrendous.

But, blowing up a 10-win team and trading a pretty darn good receiver for draft picks? What is Roddy White gonna get...a second or third round pick, at best? Doesn't seem worth it.

I'll give you that the Giants are playing pretty good defense these days, but why is everyone lumping them in the "championship defense" category? They're about average in ppg and 27th in the league in yards.

The biggest improvement needing to be made on Offense is for them to let Matt Ryan run it more freely. It has been proven time and time again, when he's calling the plays in no-huddle, they're more effective on Offense. It hurts Murlarkey's feelings that he's not dictating the game when Ryan is calling the plays. They need a better offensive scheme that is truly balanced. Last year they ran the ball very effectively as well as passed effectively. Deep pass isn't necessary every time, it's more for show or penalty draw.

Get rid of Dunta Robinson on the Defense and bring in a DB that is actually going to live up to the "D" in "DB" instead of stealing money.

Trade Roddy White because he's been inconsistent. Sure, he had a career year last year, but there was no excuse at all why he couldn't at least repeat it this season. Especially considering Matt Ryan had a career year throwing the ball.

They also need to work on the O-Line and tweak the D-Line because Abraham is more or less gone this off season as his contract is up and he's old!

I was personally hoping to see another matchup with the Packers this year, but we'll have to rely on the playoffs next year for that possibility.

Because for the first time since they've built this D-Line, they're all healthy and playing well at the same time. Tuck, Umenyiora, Canty and now with what a monster JPP has become (good job eagles leapfrogging the giants in that draft for Brandon Graham), it takes all the pressure off of their otherwise mediocre secondary and flat out bad linebackers.

You know, I like this list, but the only problem I have with it is that it should have been done this season and not the next one. That way my Titans would have beaten the crap out of you and we'd have been in the playoffs.

I feel bad for the Falcons. Now, the talk starts turning to, Matt Ryan can't win a big game, Mike Smith can't win the big game, the franchise can't win big games, start blowing up the team, rebuild this, fire this guy, and all the other stuff that comes along with this type of playoff loss.

I'll just say this, Peyton Manning lost his first 3 playoff games too, and the 3rd loss was a 41-0 blowout. If you keep making the postseason, you'll start winning. With players that good, you'll start winning. You just have to stop running into the "team of destiny" every year (seriously, Arizona, Green Bay, and now New York? That's shiatty luck), have a couple balls bounce your way, make a couple plays where you haven't before. Don't go dismantling the team over this. Make small changes, and keep as much stability as you can.
