Too bad many of the items are sugary junk.

Kraft Taco Bell Taco Dinner

What the hell is in it, then?

That's probably because the kits don't include the meat.

I'm glad Oreos are... because Hydrox farking suck.

VeganSweets marshmallows

Not sure if serious...

Well of course. The Oreo is a good knock-off of the Sunshine Hydrox which was developed in a non-organic chemistry lab as a experiment. No natural ingredients allowed.

So you're saying using real dairy and protein is more expensive, and therefore most junk food is vegan? Color me shocked!

High fructose corn syrup indeed harms no animals. Eat up!

I like to pry my oreos apart, lick off the frosting, then stick in some pepperoni and make a nice crunchy pepperoni sammich.

Does this still count as vegan? I mean, who actually knows what kind of meat, if any, is in pepperoni?

Foie gras?

Vegan != healthy?

Color me 'meh'.

This is what I don't understand about Vegans and why I'll make fun of them always: They still call their non-meat "meat" products after the meats they replace!

"Non-chicken chicken patties".

Hey, string bean, if there is not any chicken in your "chicken patty", why in the name of Hell are you calling it a chicken patty?! This makes no sense!

Tofurky?! Blow me, veggie breath. It's freakin' tofu.

Soy and rice "milk"?! I believe Lewis Black covered this nicely when he said, "There isn't a soy titty!"

I live veggies. I had broccoli with dinner tonight. It went great with this 12 oz ribeye I cooked to medium rare perfection. I need a toothpick.

*spits on ground*

*grabs crotch*

I went vegan for my New Year's resolution and had a killer attack of the munchies last night. Much to my surprise--and my husband's dismay--his peanut butter Oreos were vegan. Om nom nom

HawgWild: I live veggies.

It seems in my rant that I couldn't decide between "like" and "love", so I combined the two. And you know what? I don't care.

LOL--Yeah, I noticed that, too. It's amazing the lengths to which vegans will go to make food look & taste like the foods they're trying to avoid.

Who gives a sh*t if they're vegan, most of the stuff on that list is garbage and loaded with HFCS and other preservatives that no one should eat. PETA annoys me.

No. I refuse to accept that. Stop calling it chicken, because it isn't chicken.

You know why they won't call it what it is, right? BECAUSE WHAT IT ACTUALLY IS SOUNDS UNAPPEALING AS HELL. That's why.

You know what? I'll give them "flavor". Let them call it "chicken flavored whatever".

actually, it's been since the 90's that most sugar refiners stopped using bone meal in their bleaching process.

Too much potassium in the end product.

This. I intentionally avoid any brands or restaurants that add "meat substitutes" to their vegetarian/vegan dishes. There's just no farking reason to do it. Vegetables are delicious enough on their own, why do you have to dress it up and make it pretend to be something it's not? It's like if I boiled the flavor out of chicken, then poached it in carrot juice to make it taste "JUST LIKE A REAL CARROT!"

They are cheating just a wee bit. FTFA:

*Items listed may contain trace amounts of animal-derived ingredients. While PETA supports a strict adherence to veganism, we put the task of vigorously reducing animal suffering ahead of personal purity. Boycotting products that are 99.9 percent vegan sends the message to manufacturers that there is no market for this food, which ends up hurting more animals. For a more detailed explanation of PETA's position, please click here.

The reason for referring to non-meat products with the traditional meat name is because it makes it clear what culinary goal is with a certain verbal efficiency. It's not about pretending, it's simply ease of communication.

Like everyone else, I'm on a health kick at the moment. I discovered a couple things. 1) I like Boca burgers. They don't taste much, but they have good texture, and go fine with mushrooms and worcestershire sauce 2) Ground chicken has about the same calorie count and nutritional value, and it's cheaper.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think PETA's stance makes sense. Just because there's a few skin cells on your food doesn't mean you're a cannibal for eating it. Likewise, just because a cow farted on your veggie burger doesn't make it beef.

Then they shouldn't call it vegan. Call a spade a spade. It is vegan or not.

A vegan is a vegan is a vegan. I know. I work with one. A few cells makes it non-vegan. End of story.

Grow a bunch of beans and grain and eat them or grow a bunch of beans and grain and then feed that to a cow and then eat a cow. Same difference at the ground level. Everything's down to those farking soybeans anyway.

HawgWild: Hey, string bean, if there is not any chicken in your "chicken patty", why in the name of Hell are you calling it a chicken patty?! This makes no sense!

It's a marketing thing. No one is going to know what the fark "Breaded mycoprotien (Fusarium venenatum) cutlets" are. "Breaded Chick'n Cutlets" sounds edible and seeing it on the box will get people to buy it, especially since they know exactly what "real" food it is supposed to replace. No different than when McDonalds calls a sandwich a "McRib" and puts fake bones (and 400 other ingredients) into it. Or how about Taco Bell making a "beef" burrito? At least the vegetarian options are honest about it; they don't use the actual name of the product to trick people into eating what amounts to chemical soup.

It just harms different wild life.
