Manson will be glad for the attention, he's so desperate he's been going door-to-door to shock people.

I'm just surprised someone as young as 29 listens to classic rock like Nine Inch Nails. I thought all their fans were in their 40s.

The NIN fans I know are 30 & 31, so 29 isn't far off.

First it was blaming music for committing violence, then it was video games, and now back to music?

It's the blame cycle. I'm sure that soon enough, we'll be back to video games...or movies.

Which Marilyn Manson and Nine Inch Nails songs said this, exactly?

Most of them went something like this:

"The world is boring and depressing and life has no point."

OR:

"Pay attention to me. Pay attention to me. Random profanity. Pay attention to me."

I think that's after movies, honestly. So the sequence is, I think video games -> music -> movies -> medicine. Stick books in there somewhere for variety, you're golden.

Now, there is a Manson lyric that says to burn down a house, but it's related to burning "god's house". Unless she thought her father was god. Probably. Probably cried "oh god, oh god" whenever they farked.

\going to hell now for that statement.

For reference, here's the lyrics:
"If god crossed us we'd take all of his drugs,
burn his money and his house down,
and wait for the fire to spread."

Really NME? It's been known for the last 13 years now that the Columbine Clowns didn't like Manson or his music at all, but instead were fans of bands such as KMFDM. Guess they let just any moron write for you guys eh?

One more time...

Music doesn't force sane people to do anything. Neither does the television, the radio, posters, books, or any other form of media. Influence, perhaps - but not control.

If you believe you're being controlled by any form of media to perform an action - if you believe that music is talking to you directly, or that the glowing screen is your master, or that you've decoded a hidden message in "Catcher In The Rye" that requires you to strangle exactly 11 strangers to appease Zuul - see a licensed psychiatric professional. Please.

Funny story, I remember after the Columbine debacle occurred, they posted a picture of one of the kids wearing a KMFDM hat, and a grey Chemical Brothers "Dig Your Own Hole" shirt. Both of which I owned.

I've always enjoyed Manon's interviews in general really. He is a rather bright guy, and certainly knew what he was doing during the bands prime.

Heh...right after that, I was going to a buddy's house, wearing my prefered, at the time, clothing of jeans, a white t-shirt and my black duster.

His mom about had a fit when she saw me. (Which made no sense...she'd known me for 3 and a half years at that point.)
