The fourth season finale was intended to stand as a series finale if AMC chopped the legs out from underneath them.
Since it *wasn't* the series finale, more hilarity is to ensue.

Because I didn't discover
The Wire
until the 5th season this is the first time I'm excited about a show that won't begin months before the first episode of this coming season.
Also...
Roadhouse
was playing, although with the sound muted, at my neighborhood bar during Trivia night last Thursday... I understand your enthusiasm. It was both surreal and sublime.

Sweet deal!
I'm looking forward to it at the same time that I'm NOT looking forward to the whole thing ending. It's the best ticket on TV right now, and it'll suck to see it go.

Oh, dude, you're just enjoying the tip of the iceberg!
Once you hear the ridiculously implausible things that these characters say, your appreciation of
Road House
will climb a thousandfold.

Haha, I agree. That would be too much for me too. Every time you think you know who screwed Michael, in walks a new villain who is ready to screw with his head again, and make him his biatch. That shtick is getting tiresome. I like Burn Notice. But I don't know how they can keep it going for another eleventy years, like you know they probably want to.

I don't see any problem with this; he's an actor and Urkel was an (mind-shatteringly annoying) character, who he played to the hilt. The downside is he got completely typecast by doing his job so well.

It's like the massive, ungodly game of Villain Telephone Tag that plagued
24
from Seasons 5 to 7. It was as if you learned of a new head conspirator every other week.
At some point, you just assume that the Loch Ness Monster and Andy Kaufman played a part in going after David Palmer.
As for
Burn Notice
, if I never have to hear some variation of the phrase "I have to discover who burned me," I will be *ecstatic.*
I like Burn Notice. But I don't know how they can keep it going for another eleventy years, like you know they probably want to.

My problem with this is that it would be stunt casting during the final season of the show, the season where they're wrapping everything up.

Yeah, and aren't we on season 5 as of now? Where's Michael working? Oh look at that. CIA headquarters in Miami. Pfft. I think the show will end in the next couple of seasons, and if not, they'll probably do some new storyline where Michael became a boozer, and got thrown out of the CIA. Then he had to teach karate to children at the dojo down the street from IHOP.

Yeah, it's difficult to see this show going past seven seasons with the overarching Burned Spies Incorporated storyline.
Besides, I always dug the "help the downtrodden victim of the week" storylines better.

You're very welcome, and I'm glad you dug the whole thing!
I love the show. The fourth season finale could've been the end of it all, and I would've been satisfied (except for that ooooooooooooooone big loose end still kicking around in Mexico).
But yeah, there'll be another 16 episodes ready to start unrolling sometime this year.

I'm only up to season 3 now, but I remain absolutely convinced that it's Michael's mother who arranged everything so she could have him home again.

There was a point where I was convinced that Michael's dad was actually still alive and arranging everything.
I'm not entirely unconvinced that this won't turn out to be the case.

That was a brilliant season closer, that one. You definitely bought John DeLancie as a grief-stricken father.

I found him irritating on TNG (which was kinda the point of his character) and my mom was a huge Days of Our Live fan in the 1980s, so I was expecting soap opera-quality melodrama from him, but he brought the goods.
Personally, I like to see the completely typecast get second chances on shows, and I've found they're successful when you stop thinking of them as "that guy from that other show".From what I've read about Jaleel White, he seems like a nice guy and he deserves a chance to have a real acting career.
We shall see. I have faith in the creative folk on Breaking Bad; they haven't mis-stepped yet.

Fair enough.
I mean, hey, who would've thought that the doofy dad from
Malcolm in the Middle
could've carried and commanded a show of this nature?
That said, I'm a little bit hesitant about any creative casting during the show's last run.

Definitely. My faith in the

This article was on fark a few months back with a White interview. He came off REALLY well in it. He was articulate, funny, and thankful for the child's role he was lucky enough to be a part of. He did this despite the horrible typecasting and lifetime of bad jokes he must endure. He didn't blow his money, or turn out a freak like so many other child stars. He was even understanding of the fact that Reginald VelJohnson was upset at how the show became Urkel based, instead of a "father knows best" Cosby show knockoff. Read it and tell me you can't root for the guy.
I'll give the guy a pass and wish him the best.

I'd be okay with it.
He's not a bad actor, and it's not like he'd be going full Urkel in the part.
As long as the writing staff utilized him in such a way that didn't feel forced (Odekirk as Saul is a good example), then I'd be down for it.
