(TSN) Cool Congrats to Shane Doan for getting his first NHL hat trick. It only took 1100+ games to do, but at least he got it out of the way   (tsn.ca) divider line 59

Nick Lidstrom took 1,442 games to get his first hatty, but of course he's a D-Man and not a RW Power Forward like Doan.

Awesome! Couldn't happen to a classier guy.

As I said in a previous thread, I'm really happy that I chose to watch football over this Islanders game. The recent 3-game win streak gave me the slightest bit of hope but it's not going to happen this year. Doan's on my fantasy team though, so at least I benefited in some way.

Despite what I said above, John Tavares is making The Leap, to use Bill Simmons parlance. He's an absolute pleasure to watch and I'm happy/shocked that he was willing to commit 6 more years to this team.

Actually, Catriona is married to Shane Doan's cousion, not his brother.

Great part of the story, Doan scored the third goal with 0.1 seconds left on the clock.

Way to go Shane! Shocked he hadn't had one yet; he deserves a thousand.

That was an awesome game-performance - even as a Sens fan, I can't be mad. I did laugh as his description of what led to the fight: "Well, he slashed me and then scraped my head along the ice (...)" conveniently omitting the (admittedly not all that hard) slash/spear to the penis...

/I do hope Danny wins a Cup some day

And the 1st chance they get, Iginla and Doan will be celebrating that they got those achievements on the same night. Cool for both guys.

And I've never been so hesitant to celebrate a milestone goal in all my life. I was like "hold on! did it go in on time!" I had to explain to everyone I was watching with that it's not like basketball and that it had to be in the net by the buzzer.

Yeah. Briere also hooked a guy in the nuts and had his head slammed in to the ice in retaliation.

Ray Whitney's conversation with the refs after the goal is hysterical. "Make sure Toronto gets it right... this may never happen again."

Nice side story about this, Doan's apparently donating all the hats to Phoenix Children's Hospital.

I'm talking about the BS Lucic call when 6+ Nucks were hammer-fisting Shaun Thornton, and then they threw Lucic and Horton in box for BS reasons.

Jeko said and repeated that Lucic would get 10 games.

He kept trying to hammer that point, but it was shiat.

I was also the first person to state that it had been rescinded in the thread last night.

So... how about an apology, or you admitting that you're wrong? You know, like you said you were capable of doing and I was incapable of doing.

Mmmm.... actually, I don't care. 30 seconds off of my ignore list is more than enough.

And now Julien is claiming that Sami Salo was taking a run at Brad Marchand.

Sami Salo's never been fined, much less suspended in the NHL. This will be Marchand's third incident in a season and a half.

There goes any semblance of respect I had for that organization.

There's an interesting dynamic at play here.

Yes, the Bruins are the Big Bad Bruins, and they won the Cup being the Big Bad Bruins, but I think if they continue with this behavior, they'll end up having to fight every other team in the league. Now, I don't doubt they are easily the meanest, the toughest, and the biggest team, but I don't think for a second that they want to fight 29 other teams night after night for the rest of the year. Nor do they have the stamina too.

Because the league, fans, and opponents are just about to the point now where they are absolutely sick of putting up with Boston's shiat.

I'm sure Zac Rinaldo would like to talk to Lucic about that boarding. Ditto with anyone on the Penguins team to Marchand for the slewfoot. Or Ottawa to Adam McQuaid for the knee-on-knee hit.

Talking about making enemies on teams that skate some serious, serious thugs.

2:05: Burrows heading off for change, gives Paille a little "how ya doin'" tap on the front of the legs. Not a slash, just a little agitator music, what Kevin Weekes likes to call "sandpaper hockey". Psychological warfare like this happens hundreds of times a game.

2:06: Thornton comes by and returns the favor, taps Burrows on the back of the legs (should be noted that hockey players do not have padding back there, so this is seen as a small escalation in grievances).

2:07: Burrows turns and says "I felt that, you ain't so slick" and pokes Thornton in the chest, just to the bottom-right of the 'B' crest. Thornton takes exception to this and swats Burrows stick up and away, clipping himself in the face with Burrows blade.

2:08: Burrows does not retract his stick, keeping it inches from Thornton's face. Burrows:

Montreal doesn't much like them either.

That is an ever-growing roster of enemies they're building.

We will know when the ball has finally dropped when every team starts to specifically call up their AHL enforcers whenever they play the Bruins.
