Do they distinguish between real and fake guns? they should have a color coding system or something.

CSB: despite being a movie about a cyborg cop, the part of this movie that drives me crazy because of the lack of realism is the scene where a cigarette blows up a gas station. I can't watch that part of the film without getting annoyed and cranky.

It's a fantastic website. The best place I have found to do some basic period gun research. (Which I have to do fairly often.)

The degree of detail they go into is astonishing. And the work it must have take to put this site up is mind blowing.

Speaking of "lack of realism," what reality do you live in where you except realism from a movie like RoboCop?

I agree. I could never watch the 70's show because he was in it.

Alan Rickman in Die Hard is another one.

Regarding ED-209: "The muzzle flashes were created with pieces of cotton (stretched numerous ways), painted a special orange color, and lit with flash-bulb tubes modified to be placed inside the guns of the actual ED-209 miniature. The effect was enhanced with a large amount of optical diffusion to give the 'flashes' the more 'burned-in' look of gunfire. "

Jeez, remember when special effects took imagination and skill?

Don't know if it's still on YouTube, but there's an interview with the guy who made the "Auto 9' for Robocop. I'm pretty sure it was made from a standard Beretta and not a 93R. That would be horrendously expensive to carve up a 93R... let alone that gun is almost impossible to get ahold of and you could probably count on 1 hand how many 93Rs are in the states.

There's a hilarious story where the armorer took the gun to show Jon Davidson while there were on location. He test-fired it in the bathroom of Davidson's hotel room. Set off the smoke alarm and the Fire department even showed up.

Oh yeah, they cover all the rubber guns and blank-converted guns in every little detail. How they can identify that a pistol is chambered in 9mm instead of .45 from a blurry screencap is beyond me.

Terra Nova is FAR from the only sci-fi show that does that. If you know nerf guns and watch a lot of tv and movies you see it all the time.

I actually liked the Reservoir Dogs page. It finally told me what Mr. Orange's compact, ankle holster gun was (Beretta 950 Jetfire).

A bunch of quality guns defaced by a bunch of excessive, oversized and useless tacticool crap glued on and everything spray painted black...it's like an episode of Sons of Guns

/IMFDB is a great resource.
