Saw this yesterday, had to be the worst ending I have ever endured at the movies.

2012-01-07 03:34:57 PM
I also saw it (I'm a sucker for horror), and it was ... It was awful. Not fun awful, just purely rotten. As any sane person would tell be without even seeing it.

I'm pretty sure I screamed "STOP ZOOMING" in my sleep.

2012-01-07 03:40:57 PM
I had never even heard of this, but it sounds awful.

2012-01-07 04:22:14 PM
I'd only see it if it were a docudrama on Michael Hutchence.

2012-01-07 04:39:05 PM
I just don't get the appeal for movies like this and Paranormal Activity.

2012-01-07 04:44:41 PM
Because People in power are Stupid: I'd only see it if it were a docudrama on Michael Hutchence.

Every time I see the title for this movie, I instinctively go "DAH DAH, DAH DAH DAH, DAH DAH DAH DAH, DAH DAH DAH DAH, DAH DAH DAH, DAH DAH DAH DAH!"

People are stupid and willingly watch terrible movies.

2012-01-07 04:50:05 PM
They already made The Exorcist.

2012-01-07 05:01:57 PM
I feel like there is no end to exorcism movies. And they all basically have the same storyline- Catholic Church supposedly disavows exorcisms yet there are one or two priests who still do them, they eventually exorcise the devil out of the girl (it's always a girl), etc. etc. I swear the Catholic Church must be bankrolling these movies.

I know, it's completely misleading.
What does Christian propaganda have to do with INXS? The guy died masturbating for christsakes.

2012-01-07 05:38:48 PM
Eh... Looked kind of interesting. Certainly not worth the $20.00 plus dealing with all the assholes to see it in a theater.

Sunday night OnDemand selection? I'd say, yeah.

And it still scares the everliving shiat out of me.

Jason? Michael Meyers? I can handle myself pretty well, and I at least have a shot against them. The farking Devil? No chance.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose was bankrolled by religious folks. The reasoning is that if they can convince people that the Devil is real, they can get them to believe in God.

That seems silly, if it's true.

I love a good exorcism movie (or any demon/biblical type horror film) and I'm pretty much an atheist. I can't be the only one.

2012-01-07 06:42:13 PM
Horror movies are my guilty pleasure, but this just looks awful. The trailer shows bad acting, a convoluted storyline, and cheap jump-scares. Glad I didn't waste 20 bucks on it.

Funny, for some reason my hungover brain tried replacing every instance of "exorcism" in this post with the word "orgasm".

Need coffee.

Today's Horror movie. Yawn. I miss the olden day's when a horror movie consisted of horny teenagers and a slow walking man. Stuff my grandpappy used to watch.

I haven't seen the movie, but I have seen the FARKing trailer on youtube ten million FARKing times!

America can't have nice things? Have you ever been outside America? If we can't have nice things because of this movie's opening number's, what's Mexico's excuse.

I take it there's no Bobby Jindal cameo, then?

2012-01-07 06:51:40 PM
Never really had much interest in christian horror movies. "Oh noes, its the devil! Oooooh..." Booooring.

Now, throw in a Lovecraftian thing from beyond, or Elder God instead? I'd be all over it.

I'm not surprised. Have you seen that more recent film with Anthony Hopkins? It's all about a younger priest who is having doubts and then Hopkins gets the debil out of a girl so then he believes!! So clearly pro-religion.

Well, there's some sort of sexual thing going on with that. After all, most exorcism movies have a possessed girl or young woman as the subject. A touch o' fear there about burgeoning sexuality, perhaps?

It's full of Mexicans.

2012-01-07 07:24:41 PM
I got to see it for free at work. I thought it was pretty good up until the ending. It reminded me too much of the Blair Witch Project. Don't get me wrong, I love horror movies, I just hate movies that end so abruptly.

And they're usually barely pre- or post-pubescent. It's most definitely not a coincidence.

Emily Rose has the same character, only this one is a lawyer.

SilentStrider: Am I the only one who's never heard of this movie?

I've only heard of it because I went to the movies three times this past week and it was advertised all over Fandango and movietickets.com. Otherwise, I haven't seen a single commercial, poster, bus ad, billboard or even a review.

That's my favorite line as well, sure transformers made a lot here but made even more overseas.

Oh well at least its not a comic book movie.

No you don't have a shot against them. The only thing you can do (which I don't know why characters don't) is knock him down long enough to get to a car and drive until you don't even have gas.

Go see "The Artist", you farking no taste in movies idiots!!!!!

I 'd say go see "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" but that may be too much for some people. I read despite the movie not making as much money as they expected, the sequels are still being filmed. More Rooney Mara for me!!

They're monster movies. (Okay, monster movies with a more religious bent than your average zombie flick.) But, seriously, who doesn't like monster movies?

Yeah I'm not going to see it either now. I'm going to go see Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy instead. Has excellent actors in it. I always enjoy a good spy thriller.

The man, or the horny teenagers?

As for the movie, I don't get the appeal of these types of horror movies. I find them more incredibly frustratingly stupid and annoying than tense.

Closed circuit to any of you Farkers who saw this and have also seen Paranormal Activity 3:

which ending was worse?

Personally, I can't wait to see how bad Red Tails (new window) is going to blow.

We Fight!
WE FIGHT!
We Fight!
WE FIGHT!
We Fight!
WE FIGHT!

HOW U LIEK DAT MISTUH HITLUH?!?!

Tuskegee Airmen (new window) did a great job of telling this story already.

For something truly horrifying, they should poll the people coming out of the theater to see how many believe demonic possession is real.

It's pretty darn good. It drags a bit in the middle, but it'll definitely leave a smile on your face. The two leads are terrific.

is there a reason why a whole slew of exorcism movies have come out in the past 5 years or so?

Good to hear!

Yeah, I read a lot of good things about it, particularly how well it's doing in the awards circuit.

I love silent movies to begin with, so this should be right up my alley.
